Got a missed call with no message left today from this number. I did the usual Google and it came back 50/50 (bogus/legit) has anyone else got these recently?

I was guessing it was a courtesy call as I am coming up to the end of my contract, but others have reported that it is a third party company masquerading as Vodafone. When ever I have missed the VF team, they have always left a message.

Time will tell.

Yeah I read that before I posted, that's why I put 50/50.

It looks like the number maybe VF's but the caller isn't. What they seem to be doing is calling random numbers within the VF range and offering upgrades. They will attempt to get personal account details off you (for security purposes! Aye right!), if you are stupid enough to fall for this, then I am guessing they must then phone VF, pretending to be you and use the private details about your account (PIN, Address etc.) to proceed with the upgrade.

Rule 1, Never buy from a cold caller, and certainly never give out any personal details to one

Your unlikely to get the best possible deal and you may be giving your details to a scamer

Thanks for your post. I can understand your concern here. 

I can confirm that these calls do come from Vodafone.

You should never give out your personal details, if you're unsure who's calling you.

Vodafone will usually ask you to confirm 2 digits of your PIN number and you can always ask the advisor to confirm the other two to be safe.

If you like we can remove you off our marketing preference list and dialler? This will stop the calls .

Thanks Sukhi, yeah the reason I was wondering was because I have already been removed of the list easily over a year and not heard a peep since.

If I have managed to make it back onto the list, could you take me off it again?

Hi RobinM,

We can get that done for you, no problem.

I wouldn't expect you to be added to a list you opted out of, but you may have been added to a department's specific callback list, meaning we may need to speak with them when they're back in during the week to get this sorted.

Just reply back to the email i sent with your details and we'll get straight onto it.

Hi, ive been receieving missed calls since 31st January now like every other day from this number. I always miss the call cos they phone when im at work and then they tried different times of day and again i work diff shifts so always miss call... Its starting to really annoy me now having so many missed calls, why cant they get the hint??!!

I will not give out personal details to cold callers. I dont usually answer numbers i dont recognise anyways...

PLEASE take me off the mailing list and STOP these nuisance calls.

I had a call from this number too today, which I guessed was probably Vodafone sales related since I'm 3 months away from the end of my contract (hurrah!) so I didn't answer it  

Mods: could you please make sure I am taken off the dial list as I have absolutely no intention of upgrading or renewing my contract with you, so there's no point in them calling me.  Thanks

HaHa, I love that you only get taken off the cold call list when you complain about it. Surely if Vodafone want to have a good reputation they should stop calling every customer trying to sell more. If we're already on a contract, that's good enough. You're going to lose customers I'm afraid. I'm going to O2 next year, fed up of these calls. I get one at least once a month "Hi I'm calling from Vodafone..." and from a different number ever time. UGH!
