I have just joined Voda from o2 and receieved a huge bill!
Is it true that when using calls WITHIN my allowance that I am charged a full minute regardless of length of call be it 60 seconds or 3seconds for the first minute?
Or is it that calls made out of my allowance are charged at 1 minute minimum?
Please clear this up as customer services aren't really helping...
Thanks

That's my understanding - fractions of the first minute are charged as a full minute, effectively meaning a minimum call length of 1 minute. I don't think this is affected by the call being inside or outside your allowance, but I might be totally wrong on that so be guided by any reply you get from the Tech Team.

Hi Ang5050,
On our new tariffs all UK calls and voicemail are charged by the second, with a one-minute minimum call charge.
This means that if you make a 45 second call then 1 minute is taken from your bundle, if you make a 1 minute 10 second call then 1 minute and 10 seconds is taken.
If you've run out of inclusive minutes then you're charged the same way - you'd be charged for a full minute on a 45 second call and for 1 minute and 10 seconds on a call of the same length.
With regards to the high bills you've received, have you done anything differently recently - travelled abroad/called premium rate or in ternational numbers etc?
It's unusual to see such a dramatic increase so quickly - if you'd like us to take a look at this for you, there's a PM on the way to you now.
You can find your PM inbox here
Follow the instructions on contacting this team and we'll be in touch as soon as we can to look at ways of possibly reducing your monthly bills ![]()

Hi Paul with all due respect the only different thing I have done is changed networks :-(
I was with o2 beforehand and they charged me by the second as I'm sure most other networks do. Even Vodafone India charge by the second, it would seem that rip off Britain strikes again!
I can't believe how I have been duped into changing to your network, I spent so much time carefully calculating my costs and planning which deal would be best. The majority of my calls are under 1 minute so now it would seem that I am going to be spending a lot more!
I am deeply unhappy and am sure that you cannot advertise an allowance of 100 minutes when in actual fact you could potentially only be use 100 seconds!!!
Very unhappy and I'm sure you're not to blame but I feel totally ripped off.
