Hi - I too have questions about cancelling early.

My situation is slightly different in that I have been made redundant and now cannot physically afford the contract.

After speaking to multiple Customer Service people, I fully understand the procedure for cancelling, and that I signed a 24 month contract etc etc - but hey - things change. I didnt know 18 months ago that I would be nearly on the street due to zero income and no job, so I would appreciate a little more help than just constantly being told that I need to pay £246.00 to cancel my account.

I do not have access to that kind of money anymore - I have no job, and therefore no income. End of.

Please can someone come up with a slightly different idea of how to help? I would appreciate this very much.

As an aside, due to financial problems {due to my loss of income} I have even been advised to consider bankruptcy!! And then you'll get nothing ....

Thanks.

One senses that your problems run deaper than a phone contract you cannot afford

Anyway the contract rules are such that the ETF cannot be waived,

however there may be the option to agree a long term repayment plan

there used to be a specific team for this type of issue

I'm sure a mod will be emailing you soon

Re: Anyone know if I can cancel contract early?

I have been wondering the same thing. My screen is cracked on my Blackberry Torch and I've been refused repairs of other issues due to this, leaving me with a very expensive contract and I'm not even able to use the phone. Its ridiculous. Is there any way of terminating the contract without incurring early termination charges?

You would be unable to cancel your contract just because your phone is broken.  Your contract comes in two parts, your phone which is your responsibility and the the airtime contract which is separate and which still has to be paid.

If your phone is broken, and as you are able to use your SIM in any phone, there are some very cheap PAYG phones available which you will be able to use with your contract SIM and be able to make calls and send texts.

If you want to cancel your contract, you will be paying the remaining months line rental with a 2% discount, minus the VAT.

Re: Anyone know if I can cancel contract early?

Hi

I am also wanting to cancel my contract. I have had nothing but problems with my phone and very unhelpful service. Given the amount i pay monthly i think that i could get a better deal (and easier life) elsewhere. I am definitely going to look into cancelling. Even if it means paying out the rest of my contract it might be worth it!

Thanks

Re: Anyone know if i can cancel contract early?

After Yesterday I shall be looking for any oppertunity to finish my contract early.

I have since the first 3 days been complaining to Vodafone about the unsuitability of the handset (Samsung GT-S6510) which I was told by the sales people in Vodafones own shop was "Perfect" for my needs.

I have had the phone now for 18 months and I have phoned discussed the sittuation with the Vodafone so called "Customer Service" about once a month ever since.

Yesterday was the final straw, I once again phoned and spoke to someone in the customer service dept. The woman I spoke to was unhelpful from the start and and when I said I was prepared to pay a little extra for what I wanted she came back with a rediculous offer for me to "Pay up the contract and start again!"

I have been a vodafone customer for around 12 years and this is how we are treated.

Is there a solution? I am going to try this http://www.bitterwallet.com/how-to-cancel-your-vodafone-contract-details-and-templates/29324 my faith in Vodafone is finally destroyed and I hope that others will consider if this information can help them as well.

You can cancel at any time paying the early termination fees, remaining months line rental take off 2% and the VAT.

The only time a contract can be suspended is when a customer is going overseas serving in the armed forces.

The other alternative would be to arrange for a transfer of ownership for the contract with a good friend or family member.

Please click the star under my name if I have helped.

If you complete the form on the link below, you will be able to get your phone unlocked.

http://campaigns.vodafone.co.uk/UnlockCodeRequestForm/

If you are going to be doing a change of ownership for the contract, you will need to get it completed before you leave the UK and it does have to be with a friend you can trust or you will still be responsible for payments.

To arrange the change of contract ownership, you need to call the change of ownership team to give authorisation and your friend needs to call to accept the transfer, and this will be subject to a credit check.  The new contract owner will then be responsible for all payments on the account.

If you are going to be calling Customer Care from China, you will need to use the full number and pay roaming charges for the call.  You will be able to find the number for calling from abroad from the contact us link on the website.

Re: Anyone know if i can cancel contract early?

Hi

could one of the technical team please email me or send me a message in regards to my contract.

My finances have taken a rather strange turn of events in the last month and i  have sought financial advice and have been advised of various options but i would like to speak to someone about these issues and how it will affect my mobile contract privatley as i dont really feel comfertable with going into detail here on the forum. I tried to call vodaphone and got a rather rude person who wouldnt listen to me when trying to explain the situation so would really appreciate if someone could message me as soon as regarding my contract.

Thank You

Lou

If you look back on previous threads for people who are having a problem paying their bill due to financial problems, you will see that it is still a valid contract and will still need to be fully paid.

Collections on 191 would be the department to speak to, they should be able to make arrangements for you to be put on a payment plan with an amount you are able to afford until you are in a better financial situation.

An option for these circumstances would be a change of ownership for the contract, then all responsibility for the repayments will be with a new owner.

If you take a look at the Vodafone airtime terms and conditions, you will see that loss of income is one of the exclusions and something Vodafone will not be liable for.

Re: Anyone know if i can cancel contract early?

hi,

i have read back on this topic and do notice someone in a similar situation to myself but no other information was given just that technical team member messaged them privatley that is why i want to speak to someone privatley to weigh out my options. Paying my actual vodaphone bill is not the issue, i have divided my essential billing (which includes my contract as i am disabled and need a phone) which is payable every month as normal but i have other financial commitment which i am struggling with because of personal issues and because of this i have been advised to other ways to deal with it my finances BUT i need to speak to someone who can advise me how these option will affect my on going contract. I tried calling vodaphone as i said earlier and the person would not listen to my full explination before interupting me at every chance.

Re: Anyone know if i can cancel contract early?

Hi, so I have a blackberry Curve 9300, and I desperately want to change it for an iPhone.

Currently, I have about 5 months left on my plan, and I was wondering if you could tell me what the price would be if I bought-out of my current plan.

Thank you.

Re: Anyone know if i can cancel contract early?

Hi there

The Early Termination Fee is the number of months of line rental remaining, without VAT and less a 2% discount. If you wish to confirm the exact figure - just call 191. Remember that you can sell your current handset or send it for recycling and use the money towards the EFT.
