Are the online upgrade offers the best on the table?

My contract ends in late September so I will need to submit my 30day cancellation confirmation in the next couple of weeks but I thought it wise to see what offers were available, although from past experience customer retention offers never seem particular good!
I hate the ritual of haggling for an upgrade and every time I do it, I come away feeling like I was a pushover! I've also been in the position this year where I've been asked to provide evidence in writing about part of the deal I was offered at the last renewal! I just find the whole experience awful! So basically, is there any way of avoiding talking to commision-led sale person and still get a decent retention deal?
Many thanks

Basically, the best deals are to be had by telling them here that you are leaving, and one of the team can contact you and make an offer. Sadly, new customers seem to get the best offers from Vodafone. Customer loyalty seems to count for very little.

Hi Ora119
Welcome to the eForum
it is always good to see new faces on here.
We do have a team who cover upgrades who are not sales/commission based who will offer you the best that we can currently do.
So that they can cover all options with you I have just sent you an email, if you can reply back to that with the relevant details they will be in touch to go through these offers together ![]()
Thanks
Martin

Thanks for taking the time to reply.
Thought I'd just provide an update for information. I've since called Vodafone rather than waiting for a callback which was a bit more convenient for me. The onlline upgrade offer is actually better than that the advisor could offer me over the phone and the best he could do for the phone I want is significantly worse than I've seen with other operators. Disappointingly, there didn't seem to be any negotiation room available!
It seems likely that I will be leaving Vodafone because, for me, they just can't compete with the new customer deals available elsewhere.
In answer to my original question though, it does seem that in this instance the online upgrade was the most competitive and beat that offered to me over the phone. ![]()

Another quick update! As an afterthough I've just had a quick look on the website for new customer deals and that is better than I was offered over the phone! I think that's probably just confirmed for me that I will be leaving!
For info,
Online I can remain on my £35.75/month 12 month contract (600mins etc.) and pay £82.50 for the HTC Sensation
By phone they offered a £35/month 24 month contract (900mins etc.) and pay £35 for the HTC Sensation
New customers can have a £36/month 24 month contract (900mins etc.) and get the phone for free

Hi Ora119,
Thanks for posting! Checking our inbox, I can see you've not had a chance to respond to Martin's email to see if we can help you with your upgrade. As you may have seen from numerous threads on this site, we've helped hundreds of customer achieve great value deals more often than not cheaper than those found in the online store.
I've sent another email in case you didn't receive the original one we sent so that we can look at your account securely. If you've already upgraded or are no longer interested, there's no need to respond to my message. ![]()

I am due for an upgrade in October. This is not an early upgrade. It is the upgrade that allows me the full range of options.
I am currently using an old phone as I lost my HTC desire.
I am wanting to upgrade to the Samsung Galaxy s2. I have seen some really good offers on some of the mobile phone websites and wondered if vodafone will be able to match these deals when it comes time for me to upgrade?
In my experience, I have always been offered a better deal from the web relations team. Can you tell me how I can find out whether I can get a good deal in October as I will be looking to move from vodafone asap if It looks unlikely.
Thanks

Hi weefv,
Thanks for posting. I'm sorry to hear you lost your Desire. We'll be only too happy to help see if we can get you a Samsung Galaxy S II as an upgrade replacement.
While we don't price match with external companies, we always offer our best quote first time round wihout the hassle of haggling or negotiating. As we're not a sales team with a comission to earn, we pass our discounts down to the customer as seen in the hundreds of upgrade and connection posts on the eForum.
I've sent an email down to you so when you're ready to discuss this or another handset, we'll be able to get in touch and have you all sorted out. Remember, we don't charge the early upgrade fees sometimes associated with the online tool via our team so we could help you sooner rather than later. ![]()

As a final update (hopefully!) I've now spoken to the web relations/retention team and been offered a very competitive deal, that compares well to the best on the high street for the phone I wanted, which coupled with the convenience of not changing operators, means I will be staying put.
So in answer to my original question, the online upgrade offers aren't bad but better can be had if you speak to the customer rentention team - NOT the upgrade team you reach if you call 191!
Thanks to the web team for your help with this.

From my experience the upgrades team on 191 are great if your looking to add a second line or upgrade from PayG --> Contract. They are not so great with standard end of contract upgrades. I have always had much better deals through the web relations team!

I've found the web relations team excellent as well for end of contract upgrades, last year they gave me a decent 12 month sim-only deal and they seemed very clued up on the different packages as they sorted out an addon that I could have to boost my talktime if I needed it which ideal.

I just wanted to say thanks to the web team. I got a call from Ian who sorted me out with a great deal on the Samsung Galaxy and more minutes!
I must say this is the best upgrade experience I've had in my years with vodafone.
Well done web team ! :-)

I am due for an upgrade and have been looking at getting the new iphone 4S. I have seen better deals with other companies, but having been with vodafone for a long time, wondered how to get in touch with the retention team? Would they get in touch with me?
Any help appreciated

I'm in a similar situation, end of my contract, looking at upgrading my iphone 3G to either the 4 or 4S (4 would probably be fine). It would appear other companies are more competitive but I've been with Vodafone for 15+ years so really don't want the hassle of switching.
What's the best way to ensure I'm getting the best deal from Vodafone?
