Hi there,
I am eligble to upgrade from 31/03/2011.
I was looking to upgrade my phone for perphaps an iPhone 4, give this to my girlfriend who is currently on vodaphone pay as you go, to continue the contract with my new upgraded phone.
I will continue to be the contract holder and i will also be responsible for paying the bill.
I was then going to take out a new contract in my name for a different phone.
Can my girlfriend transfer her number and remaining credit to my upgraded contract?

If your girlfriend is going to use your upgrade, your present number will be committed to the contract and she would be unable to transfer her PAYG number to the contract.
If your girlfriend would like your iphone, you may like to consider taking out a new contract with the PAYG number with a phone of your choice. You could then keep your present number agree a new contract for your girlfriend with the PAYG number and swap the phones.
You could then have both the contracts in your name, or your girlfriend could have her present PAYG number on contract in her name but with you paying the bill.
If your girlfriends PAYG number is going to be on a contract in your name, your girlfriend would need to contact PAYG Customer Services to arrange for the number to be registered in your name before the number was transferred to contract.
Vodafone used to allow any unused PAYG credit to be used towards the first bill, but I believe this has now stopped and she would need to use any remaining credit before the number was put on contract.
edit.
You are able to upgrade 70 days before the end of your contract through telesales and instore and the remaining period is added onto your new contract.
It is confusing to see the 50 day upgrade and I believe this is incorrect.

Hi Bigsel74,
It's always a pleasure to welcome new members to the forum. ![]()
The simple answer to your question is no, however I may have a solution.
If you're eligible to upgrade your line, we can certainly look at organising this for you. Then, subject to checking your account we can offer to port your girlfriend's Pay as You Go number onto a brand new contract on your account. We'll be able to offer a shiny new phone, plus any remaining credit will be applied to the first bill. ![]()
I'm going to send you an email so we can access your account. If you can reply with all the information we need then I'll get one of my team to call you and we'll go through all the options.
I look forward to hearing from you very soon.
Best Wishes
Ian

My Girlfriend has taken it upon herself to just take out a new contract now!
She has taken a new contract out with Motorola Defy as she said this phone would suit me!
This still leaves the predicament that she still wants me to upgrade to a new iPhone 4 on my contract and take out the plan which is best suited to it and then swap phones with her.
I have rang vodafone customer services who have been VERY unhelpful and have told me that I can upgrade to the iPhone 4 for £329 but I have to keep my existing plan for £20p/m which is out of the question as it does not include any internet!
To take out a brand new contract with vodafone, the phone would only cost £199 on £30 p/m contract which is £10 p/m more expensive than my current plan but it includes internet and wifi..
I would have thought that existing customers would be offered a better deal than new ones when upgrading phones!
T-mobile have offered me iPhone 4 for £99 with £30 per month contract with everything in so i might have to just cut my losses and cancel my contract early as I will still be better off money wise!
Can anyone help?

Hi Bigsel74,
I've checked with the team and they can't see any response from yourself in regard to the email that Ian sent (mentioned above) or by Helen in response to your post on this thread.
If you've not yet had chance to reply yet, if you can do so then one of the team will be more than happy to look into the options available to you ![]()
Thanks
