Pay monthly services

I would rather pay my monthly bill over the phone or online will cancleing my direct debit have a charge on top of every month if i do so?

I'd be a little wary if I were you.  There seem to be far fewer problems (double payments, taking unjustified amounts etc.) with DD payments than with online/phone payments where you are giving them your card number afresh every time.   At least that's what posts on this forum seem to show.  Also, you have the protection of the banks' Direct Debit Guarantee scheme.    But of course, it's your choice at the end of the day !

If you choose not to pay by Direct Debit, then you would have to pay an Administration Fee, which i believe is about £3 a month
