Cancelling contract with 7 months left?

I've got 7 or 8 months left to run on  my 2 year contract.

LSS - I work from home , I only  got this phone to work from home with, was sold a VSS due to poor signal at home, despite Vodafone saying I should get good network coverage in my area, but it's been very inconsistent and therefore quite useless.

I've hardly used my phone, never coming close to monthly usage limits for either internet  or calls or even texts due to it being almost unusable in my house.

Am now switching ISP to BT Infinity which definitely doesn't work with the VSS rendering the Vodafone phone even more useless than it has been already.

I will owe Voda over  £200 to buy myself out of this contract. I realise there's no way out of paying it, but my question is can I get a PAC code  at this stage, as I want to keep my number, or can I only get a PAC code if I'm switching immediately to a new network provider?

If you request a PAC it is valid for 30 days and will need to be used in that time. If you do not use it to move to another network, then your contract will continue as normal and nothing would have changed.

You could also change your number to PAYG, and then get a PAC for that service once you are ready to move?

Re: Cancelling contract with 7 months left?

Thanks for your reply.
I'm not ready to move to another network yet so it seems from what you've written that I've got a choice, either hang on to phone till contract is up and just make payments monthly as normal - which is less of a hit on my finances anyway than a big upfront payment, or switch immediately to PAYG and pay the amount upfront.
That's helpful, thank you very much!

Re: Cancelling contract with 7 months left?

Hi Hhar

Thanks for your post. You can request your PAC Number at any stage during your contract. If you request your PAC Number or to terminate your agreement with more than 30 days left until the end of your commitment, you'll be required to pay and early termination fee (ETF) which is the line rental to the end of your agreement excluding VAT.

If you're still having difficulty with your Sure Signal and network then I'd recommend taking a look at the Sure Signal and Network Troubleshooting guides for further advice.

Thanks

Simon

Re: Cancelling contract with 7 months left?

Thanks Simon. I've done all the Troubleshooting tips over and over during the 18 months I've had the SS and I can honestly say that it's only ever worked well for a couple of weeks, and that was after a re-sync.

I'm starting a new thread on the SS area of the board to see if there's any way I can get the god awful thing to work.

Re: Cancelling contract with 7 months left?

Hi Hhar

Thank you for your post.:smileyhappy:

I have checked your Sure Signal serial number from a previous thread when your Sure Signal worked and can see that this last connected 01/04/2012.

I also notice your new thread regarding the phone settings and can confirm that as the Sure Signal only works on 3G that this needs to be enabled on your device.

If you are still experiencing difficulties please can you advise us of the light sequence you have on your Sure Signal.

Many Thanks
