Confused by last month's bill!

[ Edited ]

Hopefully this will make sense, but I am a bit baffled so bear with me.

I have been on a SIM-only plan for quite a few years now, £10.50 a month. Every month my bill looks like this:

SIMO 100mins 500texts VP 1m: £8.75

+ any extra data/MMS charges

+ VAT

Sometimes I don't use any data, etc, during a month so quite often my bill is just £8.75 + VAT = £10.50. Simples.

But this month it looks like:

SIMO 100mins 500texts VP 1m *inc prorating*: £6.75

Data/MMS, etc: £13.62

Y4 24IP 1200M UTX 750MB WF E *inc prorating*: £10.57

Overdue balance: £11.94

+ VAT

= £48.56!

As you can see I've split the charges into two groups, so let's look at the first group. The data charges are fine; I had to use the internet quite a bit last month, so no problems there. But I appear to have been undercharged my usual flat rate - £6.75 + VAT = £8.10.

The top line of the second group relates to an incident last month whereby someone gained access to my account and ordered themselves an iPhone 4S, had it delivered to an address several hundred miles away and signed for it with my name. I was told by Vodafone that all charges in relation to that had been written off, and have a letter which says so. And the second line is a mystery; I pay my bills by direct debit and the full amounts have been taken for my last two bills - I checked them against my bank statements.

By my reckoning, my bill for last month should read something like:

SIMO 100mins 500texts VP 1m: £8.75

Data/MMS, etc: £13.62

+ VAT

= £26.84

Does that sound about right? I realise I am probably going to have to sort this one out over the phone, but I want to be sure I've got my facts right before I do.

Re: Confused by last month's bill!

The reduced cost is due to the service changing mid month, so only a portion of the month has been applied to the bill.

The 2nd line is a 24 month 1200Min, unlimited txt, 750mb wifi contract, and sounds like it was what was used when the handset was ordered... You have been upgraded to this new plan by the fraudsters, so they could get the phone, and again a partial month payment.

It sounds like it could take a bit of sorting out due to the fraud side of things.

If you want to wait for one of the tech team to get here (they answer posts in the order they were placed) they will send you a message so you can get in touch for them to look for you. Or you could call 191 and speak to someone.

Re: Confused by last month's bill!

Hi Kevlar,

To be honest we would need to view the account to be able to say exactly what is happening here for you as it could be a case that the charge will be refunded, unfortunately we can say for sure without looking at the account.

So we can do this I have sent you a quick PM, please follow the instructions on the PM and one of the team will be able to check everything out on the account for you.

You can find your PM inbox here.

James

Re: Confused by last month's bill!

Thanks James, but I tried looking at the PM and all I keep getting is the message, 'Sorry, you do not have sufficient privileges for that action. Please click the Back button on your browser.'

Typical!
