Daft question regarding PAC

Hi

Background to this question is that I was up until recent under the impression that I could upgrade on 5 April, only to  now informed it's the 25th. My contract itself ends on 14 June.

I'm just considering options, and may well just wait until 25 April - it is after all only 3 weeks away. But...in the meantime:

1) I assume that while under contract, I can't port my number to another network (and just pay VF as normal by DD for the remainder of my contract)?

2) If I wait until the early upgrade date of 25 April, can I do this early upgrade with CPW (who I took my original contract with)? On the basis that their deals are better... on the HTC One X at least.

3) If I took out another contract with Vodafone (new one with the One X) with a different number, could I close my current account when the contract ends and swap the number over to the new One X account?

As you might have guessed, I've no problem with paying off the rest of the CURRENT contract and would even do it early, but I'm keen on keeping my number.

Thanks

If you port to a different network Vodafone will automatically gernerate a final bill. The amount this is depends on the remaining time on your contract

Yes, this would be a possibility. You would need to talk to CPW to confirm this is the earliest they can upgrade you.

This is an option however you may find it cheaper to pay off your remaining months in one go and start a fresh.

Alternativly you could speak to the @vodafoneukdeals twitter team. They specialise in getting great upgrade deals! For info on how to contact them head over here and follow the instructions. They are a small and very popular team so they may not reply straight away, stick around though as one of the team will get back to you as soon as they can.

I've just upgraded a few weeks early through them, and got a fantastic deal so it's worth giving them a shot!

Re: Daft question regarding PAC

BBG:-

1) Yes you can, as I explained on the other thread you posted on. But you'd have to pay it off in one go, not in instalments.

2) I think I read somewhere that you can only do an upgrade through CPW if you have a month or less to go ?

3) Not sure.  Sounds horribly convoluted and expensive though - why would you want to do it that way ?  In any case I think the answer to 1) above renders this one redundant !

Re: Daft question regarding PAC

Thanks very much to both of you for your assistance. Option 1 is likely how I'll proceed.

Biffo - option 3 - ha ha, you're rght, what was I thinking!

Currently on the Vodafone for my PAC, and been waiting 11 mins listening to music while apparently being tranferred for my PAC. Unimpressed.

Thanks again though to both of you, much appreciated.

You're welcome !!     You might also like to be aware that most of the Phone-based customer  services close at 8 p.m.  -  so if you're still listening to hold music at 20:30, that'll be why.     :smileywink:

Re: Daft question regarding PAC

Hi BBG

Thanks for your post there are no daft questions! :smileyhappy:

Nabs is exactly right on all his answers. You can request your Port Authority Code and move your number to another network at any point but this will generate your final invoice.

You would need to speak to Carphone Warehouse to find out the earliest date that they would upgrade you.

I’d love to discuss all these options with you further, I’ve sent you a Private Message with details on how to get in contact with us, we’ll be back in touch once we reach your email.

You can find your PM inbox here.

Thanks guys, great support!

Thanks

Amanda
