Re: Early upgrade fees

Hi I can upgrade early on the 24th of November 2011 and was really looking forward to getting the new iphone 4s, but then I hear about this £55 early upgrade fee AND the remaining 6 months of my old contract put onto my new one. Fair enough I dont mind the remaining 6 months put onto my new contract but being charged this extra fee aswell i am not happy about! Does anyone on here know a way around this fee as I think il leave the early upgrade and change providers when my contracts up if I have to pay to be a loyal customer??? Also could I not upgrade early and have 7 months added to my next contract? Thanks in advance!

Re: Early upgrade fees

Good evening,

Like most people here it seems I am falling into the same category.  I was a new customer to Vodafone on a 24 month contract which is shortly winding down and I have been eligible for an upgrade for a little while now.  Throughout my contract I have never had any negative issues or any problems whatsoever really, and naturally I am more than happy to extend my contract as a result of this.  When comparing the different price plans & phones however, I find it appalling that as an existing customer I'm being charged a £55 fee, whereas if I was a new customer this charge wouldn't be applicable.

Furthermore when looking to upgrade to one of the various iPhone plans I do not have the option to renew for a further 24 months, and what does this incur - a higher monthly charge as a consequence of a shorter contract.  The scenario is completely farcical that we are not being rewarded for the previous custom we have provided - and in this case the custom that I would ordinarily be happy to give again.

I have just done a quick cross check again and to illustrate this if my circumstances were exactly the same only on the O2 network, I would currently be eligible to upgrade to the iPhone 4S for the exact same minutes I currently recieve (900), at the exact same price I currently pay (£36pm), at the length of time I require (24 months) & with no handset cost or ridiculous fee charges.  In comparison if I want to stay with VF, this same deal is only available on an 18 month contract at the cost of £46pm, £49 handset & £55 upgrade fee.

Could somebody please elaborate as to why the cost of renewing is so excessive? Looking around on the internet it is quite clear that the best option is to simply buy out the remaining months and join another network as a new customer.  I'd be most grateful for some feedback on these policies.

Regards,

Simon

Re: Early upgrade fees

Having looked at what is on offer for early upgrade, i think i will pass as go to p4u and see what they can do for me.

£95 EUF, and lowest PP of £41 for a samsung Galaxy SII, but when clicking on it, it doesnt give me option for plans.

Im sure i can get a better deal by taking out a new contract at p4u. Goodbye.

Re: Early upgrade fees

I would love it if someone at Vodafone could call me but i'm still waiting for any response, trying to upgrade my phone with you and finding it impossible.  Your phone messages say I have to do it online, but on here i have to pay the fee.  Apparently I can upgrade (presumably without the fee) from next thursday, I don't want to wait until then as the iphone 4s is getting out of stock everywhere (including here now in some models grrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!)

I know the deal/phone I want, and can still get it on other networks which I'm gonna have to do that as I can't wait any longer. Please call me asap! Cheers.

Re: Early upgrade fees

Im the same as everybody else on this board, for my same price plan it will cost me £46 PM,£49 handset and £55 early upgrade.

Im currently already sitting on £40(which rises to £50 due to VAT? :smileyfrustrated:) P/M for 600 minutes, ulmtd texts and 750 MB internet, which im wanting to cut down to atleast £30. I know this is possible due to my friend, who is also VF, just got the new IPHONE 4S, for £20 p/m, OK he didn't get an early upgrade, but he didn't have to pay anything for the handset and is paying £20 a month for the same minutes etc. He has been a VF customer for 5 years now, but I have only been a customer 3 years, still, I think vodafone should be thinking about there current customers before there new ones, as the new ones will soon find out that you can get better upgrade offers/deals/price plan elsewhere.
I have tried contacting here a few times, but no reply, nor from the customer service number, which may I add are useless and ignorant.

Im very annoyed at how existing customers are being treated, and VF should make these customers priority before losing them.

If I can't get a suitable answer that will keep me with VF I will go to phones4u who are happy enough to buy me out of my contract.

Regards,

UNHAPPY VF CUSTOMER

Re: Early upgrade fees

Hi Marc1903,

Aplogies for the delay in responding to you - we've got you down for a callback for the Galaxy Note if it becomes available on Vodafone - if you're after the iPhone 4S now that's fine too and we can help you with your upgrade still :smileywink:

I've updated our records and one of the team will give you a call as soon as they can for a chat about your options :smileyhappy:

Re: Early upgrade fees

Hi, I have a Blackberry curve 8520 which has a dead battery. Spoken to vf on numerous occasions, been sent the worng one, now its out of stock etc etc. A mobile phone isnt a mobile if it has to be plugged in to the wall to work!  So i can upgrade online today and am shocked to see the charges involved, so much for being an exsitsing customer. If I was a new customer I'd be getting the iphone 4s for cheaper and with a better deal than the iphone 4 8gb i want.

Customer Services are useless, keep repeating their robotic I cant do anything at me, no one can make a decision for themsleves, its impossible to speak to a UK based agent after being told I cant have an iphone because my warranty has run out???

please can anyone help as my other option is to stop using this account and go and get a better deal elsewhere.

thanks

Hi cheekysmiler26 and cmclark,

I've sent an email to each of you to see if my team can help out with your upgrades away from the normal sales channels. Just reply with your selected handset and tariff and we'll see what we can do to work our magic. :smileyhappy:

Gordonbennett - As long as you got the auto-response to your email, a member of my team will be in touch. I'd ask that you refrain from posting as this could delay us in getting round to every ones emails as fast as we'd like. We've seen a massive influx of work as you can imagine and we're working as hard as possible to play catch up. We'll be with you ASAP. :smileywink:

Re: Early upgrade fees

I wonder if anyone can help me.

My early upgrade has just become available. I've been checking it regularly!

Disppointed to find  a charge of £55 when Ive transferred to you from another provider and been a loyal customer for the past 3 years. An iPhone contract is already expensive enough without this charge. I'd really like a white 4s but see i have to go for a higher plan.

Can someone get in contact as this is ridiculous! I'd like to stay loyal to vodafone but this doesn't leave me with many options...

I tried calling today but i just got an automated message saying early upgrades can only be done online. Helpful!

Re: Early upgrade fees

Hi pierced_rose

Thanks for posting, I’m sorry to see that you don’t feel like we are rewarding you for being a loyal customer, I’d love to see what I can do about that early upgrade fee for you. :smileywink:

If you could pop me a reply to the email that I have sent you then we will be in touch. We’re only a small team and extremely popular at the moment, we will be with you as soon as we can.

Let me take this opportunity to show you how Vodafone like to say thank you; take a look at VIP.

Amanda

Re: Early upgrade fees

Hi Amanda,

I've emailed you a couple of times but had no response.

I had a phone call on Monday 28th and arranged my upgrade. However I haven't heard anything since! I was advised I would get an email confirmation and a text when the delivery was scheduled. I understand the phone I wanted was currently out of stock with web relations. Could you please follow this up? I thought I might have at least had an email confirming the deal I had agreed to.

Thank you.

Re: Early upgrade fees

Further to my post above. I have spoken to Vodafone today and they confirm my upgrade is documented in the notes and they are just awaiting stock of the phone. Fingers crossed not too long!

Re: Early upgrade fees

Hi, I'm new to the forum but thought I would ask a quick question please?

I have just checked my account online and 1 of my handsets is available to upgrade early with a fee and the remaining months added to my account? If I wait until 5th Feb there will be no fee.

If I go through phones4u there will be no fee?  Surely shouln't it be better dealing direct with Vodafone??

I was going to upgrade online but don't fancy an early upgrade fee ontop of the price of a 4s!

Thanks
