Has anyone upgraded lately?

My brother is with Virgin and his contract just expired. And when he phoned for an upgrade they offered himt he exact same deals and tariffs that a new customer would get. They said they have no reward for loyalty anymore because costumer phoned in to complain when they werent given acceptable offers.

is this the case with Vodafone now aswel? has anyone upgraded recently? the last few months? were you able to get a discount on line rental for example or were you just offered the same deals a new customer would be given?

Re: Has anyone upgraded lately?

Hi sosolid4u09

A few years ago every network used to offer the best deals to new customers, and if you wanted an upgrade you had to work quite hard to get a really good deal.

Most networks now offer the same deals to new customers and existing customers, so it's much more balanced.

Vodafone have a new upgrade system which allows sales agents to offer deals based on a number of different factors including how long you've been a customer, if you're out of contract and how much you spend. This means we can offer different deals to upgrading customers and based on your history could be much better than those for new customers.

As beedy65 has mentioned (thanks beedy!:smileywink:) we can take a look at the upgrade options on your account for you and see if we can sort out a cracking deal for you!

Let me know if you'd like us to get in touch! :smileyhappy:

Cheers, Helen

Re: Has anyone upgraded lately?

I tried to update my 12 month sim only yesterday. I could only get a better deal if I closed my account and re-signed as a new customer. In fact the guy trying to get me to renew had the cheek to offer me a new 12 month contract with a Nokia 1616 for £24 extra over the course of the year - I can get this phone for around £10 up front! Not a happy bunny having to lose my number and become a "new" customer in order to save money.

Re: Has anyone upgraded lately?

@ helen is it possible to find out roughly what kind of deal i would be offered on upgrade?

I joined vodafone in 09 and am coming to the end of my 24 month contract, paying a whopping £40 a month. Meaning i have poured almost £1000 into vodafone.

Does this mean i will be given a decent upgrade deal when i am due next month? I ask because i am eligible for ONLINE upgrade. and the phone i am after is available on online upgrade right now. however the tarffs i am being offered are just like the ones offered to NEW customers.

is there any benefit to be had by me waiting a little while longer until i am eligible to upgrade over the phone? will i be given a better deal than the offers available online atm? if not then there is not much point in me waiting to upgrade right?

if could send me a personal message/email letting me know that would be very helpful to me

thanks

Ali

Hi path6336,

First of all a very warm welcome to the eForum! I'll be more than happy to look at upgrade options with you in order to retain your number. With SIM Only plans, you would normally have to wait until your commitment is complete (unlike those with subsidised hardware where you can upgrade in the last 70 days) so that may have been why the upgrade department were not allowed to use the same mobile number. I've sent an email to your registered address so if you can pop as much info as possible in your response along with the handset and tariff you're after, I'm sure we can investigate further for you. :smileywink:

sosolid4u09, we're not able to discuss account specifics on the forum here for security purposes. As Helen has already mentioned, we can usually offer even better value deals for upgrading customers than those found in the standard online store including those looking for an early upgrade. The only exceptions out of our remit are iPhone plan, SIM Only arrangements and 12 month commitment deals :smileyhappy:

Cheers, Ben
