How do I find out how much it will be to cancel my contract?

I have a contract but now I need to cancel it. I really don't want to have to pay for it all at once though. If I gave it to someone else to take over in my family would I be able to get a new number for it and what would happen to my number I have now? Thanks

Hi Rachael,
Sorry to hear your looking to cancel your contract.
You can cancel in full by paying the remaining months -20% VAT
Alternatively you can have your number transferred to a friend or family member if they are willing to take it over and as long as they pass the relevant credit check.
In terms of getting a new number, the only way this can be done free of charge is if there were nuisance calls being received, in this case the police would also need to be involved.
A small charge will be made if this is not the case (it used to be £25, not sure if it still is) and a new random number will be assigned to the account.
If you decided to do this your old number would be placed into quarantine for a period of time before being returned to a pool of recycled numbers for re-allocation.
Was there a particular reason you were looking to cancel?

In addition to Nabs post I would just add that there is also a further 2% taken off the outstanding amount to the end of contract if it is paid up in full.
monthly amount X months outstanding minus 20% VAT minus 2% discount.
One thing to note is that if your contract is discounted then the sum above is actually worked out on the full contract price, not the discounted price.
