Keeping Contract But Moving Number To Another Network

Not sure if this is possible.

I have a Vodafone Contract Phone and want to move the number on it to another phone/network (for personal use) and keep the Vodafone Contract Phone for business on another (new) number.

Is this possible, if so how?

Your number is tied into the contract. You would need to cancel the contract, pay the line rental up to the termination date, then request a PAC code to port the number to another network.

Keeping Contract But Moving Number To Another Network

Hi barryp and welcome to the eForum

As you can see Annzing has been very helpful here. This is indeed what would need to happen in order for you to do what you want to do. However can I ask why you were thinking of doing this?

If you ported your number out you could still take out a new contract on a Business Contract.

Let me know if you have any more questions and we'll be more than happy to help you further.

Thanks

Wayne

Keeping Contract But Moving Number To Another Network

Thanks Wayne,

I still have 8 months to go on my Vodafone Contract and I want to use that for my business use, for personal use I have an iPhone, so cannot use that on Vodafone.

Seems a waste of 8 months contract that I want to use and the necessity of leaving Vodafone to do this

Regards
Barry

Keeping Contract But Moving Number To Another Network

Hi, I have a very similar query, please can someone help. I took a Vodafone contract out for my daughter who is under 18 and so couldn't obtain one herself and she gives me the cost of the bill each month, however she has found she isn't using anywhere near her allowance and so wants to switch to Vodafone pay as you go. I do not wish to cancel the contract as I plan to make use of it myself, but my daughter would like to keep the number to use for her Vodafone pay as you go account, so would it be possible to switch the contract number to a Vodafone pay as you go sim and obtain a new number for the contract? Several people on this forum have had Vodafone replies saying they will change the phone number of a contract number for £25, and this thread itself says you will port numbers to other simcards, so I don't see why both can't be done on the same account. I don't mind paying as I appreciate the inconvience it will cause Vodafone, but if I have to buy out my contract and then port the number to another simcard in order for my daughter to keep her number then I will do that and we will both change to another network

As you can see from the posts above, the number is tied into the contract. Even if you did buy a new number, your daughter would still be unable to have the contract number for her PAYG.

Its the same for all the networks, you agree a contract with the number and get billed for that number and that number cannot be given to anyone else for the length of the contact.

Hi barbara1953

Thanks for the post, unfortunately I'm going to be the bearer of bad news :(

Annzing is correct when she's said that the number is tied to the contract.

I'm sorry that we've not been able to help you out this time.
