Hello stuartwilson
When you take out a new contract, your first bill is always higher due to be billed on a pro rata basis for the first month up to the date of your billing cycle and, as line rental is always in advance, you are charged one months extra line rental.
The following link from support will give you a very good explanation on how your first bill in calculated and charged.
Your next bill will be for the normal monthly line rental.
