Poor value for loyal customers wishing to upgrade

Having had problems with my current Nokia N8 I have been counting down the days to my upgrade. Having seen the "offers" available to me though I think that might have been a waste of time...
Both my husband and myself are looking to upgrade to either a Samsung Galaxy S2 or the iphone 4s. Imagine my surprise to find out that our special upgrade price on either the phone is EXACTLY the same as it is for a brand new customer. (Obviously when I say exactly the same I'm ignoring the fact that the new customer could also use a cashback site and therefore actually be at least £70 better off than me).
Can't help thinking that if Vodafone wish to repay my three years of loyalty in this way I might as well go to another network - I see T-Mobile have some great deals on the Samsung. Not impressed!

No Loyalty for Long time customers

Hi,
I know this has been posted before but though I would create a new post just to highlight this issue once again.
I have been with Vodafone for over 8 years now and throughout this time I have never received any type of loyalty discount on my monthly bill or when renewing my contract.
As times are hard and my wife and I have just had our first baby, she decided to ring her provider Orange to ask about a bill reduction she still had Months left on her contract but they were more than happy to reduce her monthly bills from £35 to £25.00 with 300 loyalty minutes and £2.50 monthly customer loyalty discount taking her contract down to £22.50 she has only been a customer for 2 years,
I though this what a good deal from Orange therefore rang Vodafone thinking they may be able to reduce my contract, how wrong I was.
After waiting the usual 20mins to get through to someone and being on hold for over 15 mins due to there computers which as always were running slow. I had no option but to hang up and ring back again. Only to be told they could not reduce my current contract so I asked about a possible loyalty discount they said there was nothing they could do as they dont offer that service.
This is the final straw with vodafone as I have already had major issues with my last upgrade and was messed around for months before I got my phone replaced. My contract runs out in May 2012 and I can't wait to cancel it and go to a provider who actually have good customer care and better deals all around.
Shame on vodafone after all the money they have had off me through the years, they really couldn't care less about their customers.

i moved from orange to vodafone and its the biggest mistake i have ever made.

I agree, our account has been reigstered for years, yet have NEVER received any upgrade 'offers'. I am seriously considering moving to Orange at the moment, I have tried discussing this in the past in store but always get fobbed off with 'No sorry we cant offer you anything', yet I know friends of mine have taken out new promotional offers and paid much less for much more.

I have just been offered an early upgrade, lucky me I can upgrade to a more expensive plan or buy the new phone for a one off cost.
I looked in to the HTC Sensation 2-3 weeks ago and the phone would be free on the price plan i wanted, I have since checked and the same deal now has a one off cost of £99.
Elsewhere other companies are providing the phone on a cheaper deal and no one off cost!!!
Even phones4u are offering a deal with a cheaper monthly rate with no one off fee, this deal is actually from vodafone!!!
How can this be so!!
I have been a customer for 6years and no loyalty rewards what so ever, new customers can get the same deals as me but can be better off as they can go through cashback sites!!
I have also been told by customer services that the deal you get offered by the operator depends on their personal allowance of rewards they can offer in a day and not based on the customer that has called them.
I am absolutly appauled that in thius financial climate there is no impetus to help customers or to keep their custom.
My contract ends in March and I cant wait to go to Orange who do offer loyalty rewards and actually want to be helpful!!!

No other provider offers "early upgrades" in the same manner as Vodafone do, so it's not really valid to compare those deals to anyone else. Having said that, early upgrades are basically an expensive con that only make sense if you've got loadsamoney or you're desperate; you'd do far better to hang on until your contract ends, you'll get offered much better deals.

I'm going to give it one last go now I see that they are selling the galaxy nexus but I doubt they can beat the option of getting my PAC and going elsewhere with the nexus and cashback

Hey,
I know what you mean... I read a post on here where a customer was able to get another deal on I-phone 4s (other than that which is listed on their price plans which they apparently CANNOT change!!!) but when I challenged VF about it, they said they still could not do anything and was snotty when I said that I was going to leave then... They have no customer care whatsoever and do not care who they loose.

When you sign up for a contract you're unable to lower the price plan until the commitment finishes - you can go up if you need more and come back down again, as long as you don't go lower then where you started ![]()
With regards to your upgrade, all of our quotes are unique now, should you should be able to get at least the same as a new customer, if not more - the system is designed to take your loyalty to Vodafone into account as it looks at you individually as a customer and generates a quote that's unique to you and even to each specific number you have with us!
