Hi i have a question about the Sim Only plans question is do you get the option to upgrade your mobile after u have been on it for a certain period of time, i only ask because i have a oldish mobile and i'm looking to upgrade and have been on PayG for a long time.

Sim only means that you keep the phone you have. There no phone included with the price plan. If you wish to update your phone, you would need to go on a contact to have a new phone offer.  Or you buy another phone that can work with the vodafone network and put your sim only card inside the new phone.

A sim only plan is a contract without a phone,

you get more mins and texts than an equivalent cost contract with handset becasue you are not paying off the cost of the handset,

you also get more mins and texts than payg becasue you are locked in for a set period paying a set amount,

when you come towards the end of your sim only contract you are free to upgrade as with a normal one

Sim only contracts are primarily designed for either those who want to use there own handset brought from a third party, or those who have come to the end of a contract and want to stick with there old handset for a few months whilst waiting for something they like to come out

In your case you should look to either upgrade to a contract with a mobile (note the iPhone5  or 4S should be anounced today) or look to get a new payg handset where you may be able to get a discount as a PAYG upgrade

Welcome to the eForum team! It's great to see a couple of our members have managed to give you information on how a SIM Only plan works. Contract agreements can start as little as £10.50 a month if you're not after a huge allowance or a top end handset. We can usually find a package to suit any pocket!

I've sent an email down to you so we can discuss options for you to migrate over to a pay monthly basis with your current number. Hi seb_lucas,

You can upgrade to any phone however depending on the price plan and monthly cost of this will dictate if the phone can be given for free or if a contribution to wards the cost of the phone is required.
