Roaming in French Polynesia

Hi
I have just arrived in French Polynesia (country code 689) and my phone does not work. It worked earlier yesterday during a stopover in Japan. I have already turned off:smileysurprised:n the phone several ti,es and tried to select the local network manually but it wont connect.
I really need to be able to use my phone in French Polynesia and I am staying here for 2 weeks. Could you please investigate this urgently for me?
Many thanks

Re: Roaming in French Polynesia

Hi mike_vodafone

Thanks for your post. From the information provided on roaming it appears that roaming in French Polynesia isn't supported, hence the difficulties in trying to connect to a local network.

However I am getting this information double checked for clarification. As soon as I have it confirmed I'll post back.

Thanks

Simon

Re: Roaming in French Polynesia

Hi Simon

Thanks for looking into this issue.

I have roamed in French Polynesia when I was with O2 and Three UK.

Hope this can be fixed soon.

Cheers

Re: Roaming in French Polynesia

Hi mike_123

Apologies that it has taken a little while to come back to you regarding your roaming query.

I can confirm that Tikiphone Polynesia is available for roaming in French Polynesia. It is only for voice so SMS and data are not supported, and only works for pay monthly customers.

We're also updating the website to reflect this.

Thanks

Simon

Re: Roaming in French Polynesia

Thanks for the confirmation Simon.

However even though I am a Pay Monthly Customer,  I am still unable to connect to the Tikiphone network as it seems that it tries to connect and then loses the connection/rejects my connection...

I really need to be able to connect to my phone line. Is there anything I should try/you could do?

Many thanks

Re: Roaming in French Polynesia

Hi mike_123

The only other thing we can do with this would be to check your account to ensure there isn’t anything wrong. Other than that, it must be a problem with the foreign network.

I’ll send you an email over to the email address that you registered with though and we’ll take a look. All you need to do is hit reply and fill in all of the information it asks for. We’ll then get back to you as soon as possible.

Thanks

Wayne

The vodafone website still hasn't been updated. Can you confirm the changes please?

Hi mike_123

Thank you for your post and it is great to see you again.:smileyhappy:

I have checked and French Polynesia falls under the bracket of The Rest Of The World and these charges can be seen here on page 3.

If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to post.

Many Thanks

Re: Roaming in French Polynesia

Thanks for the prompt update and for the confirmation that roaming should work in French Polynesia!

I have checked http://www.vodafone.co.uk/personal/price-plans/pay-monthly/travelling-abroad/index.htm and french polynesia still isnt listed. Could it be corrected?

Regards

Hi Mike

No problem - I've fed this back to the relevant area to get updated as soon as possible (Work Request reference 8332).

Thanks
