Spam Texts

I receive unsolicited and unwelcome texts, from various numbers for example +447955747155, +447534512655, +447510262328, +4475009097344 etc.

1. How can I stop these?  Is there any action ever taken against these people?

2. I don't think I am charged anything for these texts whilst I am in the UK, but what about when I am abroad?

thanks for advice

Re: Spam Texts

Hello go1218

You are not the only one, we all get unwanted SMS from these spammers, if its not the PPI, it the accident claim its something else.

These pests have a PAYG SIM with unlimited texts which is used in a computer to generate SMS to random numbers. If they are lucky, they get a hit to a genuine mobile number who replies back.  Using a SIM this way is against the terms and conditions and as soon as the networks get on top of them, they start again using a new SIM with a different number.

The best thing to do is to ignore and delete them, whatever you do dont reply STOP or they will know they have got a genuine mobile number and you will get further unwanted texts.

Unfortunately, there is nothing the networks can do to stop these numbers, they are coming from a mobile number and the numbers change frequently.

Re: Spam Texts

I too am getting these, and ignoring them, however I've had one today which had my first name at the start of the text - wagesnow I think it was? This one has bothered me, given the mobile number these are coming to is my mifi number so it hasn't been given out, nor would I reply to any of these. Should I report it somewhere?
