Under Contract and Moving Phones

Hi,

I was wondering if somebody could help with the issue i'm currently having.

I'm a current Vodafone user 4 months into my 18 month contract. I signed up for a HTC Incredible S of which i'm not happy with the phone (basically i dont like it) and want to move to iPhone 4.

I phoned Vodafone last week, they adviced me that all i would need to do is purchase the phone (Pay as you go, or Unlocked) and then go into my local shop and move the number onto a micro sim. I've just phoned Vodafone again and they have adviced me that i wont be able to do that as Apple only allow new contracts only.

Anybody help?

Re: Under Contract and Moving Phones

You are able to use any phone on your contract, and there would be no reason for you to be unable to purchase an iphone at your own expense and transfer your number to a micro SIM which can be done at a Vodafone store.

If you do a search of the forum, you will see that you are not the only person who would have done this.

Providing you are not paying any less, Customer Services should also be able to change your tariff to an iphone plan.

Re: Under Contract and Moving Phones

Thanks for your response.

Does the phone have to be Apple Vodafone PAYG handset? or just unlocked? Obviously the phone isn't registered until it's confirmed with the Apple store?

I dont want to cancel my contract nor change the plans so just a simple phone swap.

Re: Under Contract and Moving Phones

You can use a generic iPhone available from an apple store or a voda locked one from voda,

I would look at swapping over to the iPhone 4 plan of equivalent cost if I were you as you'll get more data and access to bt openzone,

your contract length will remain unchanged

Note I do not work for voda, My advice comes from experience and my opinions are my own

Re: Under Contract and Moving Phones

Thanks for your great responses guys.

I got 500mb of data with current deal, so should be okay and if needs to be will look at increasing that.

Looking forward to returning to Apple.
