Unlimited texts issue

I've been with vodafone for several years now, never had a problem with "unlimited texts".

I'm aware there was, or still is a fair usage policy before but as an avid texter I regularly exceeded 3000 texts a month, and was never charged for any texts over 3000.

 

My contract was renewed to a SIM only contract in december 2011, and this month I have used a little of 3500 texts. To my surprise, I have been told my current balance is over £85 due to the addition of over £50 due to these extra 500 texts.

 

I would just like to know why my My Vodafone app says i have unlimited texts, my online account states unlimited texts with no mention of a limit of 3000 and when the contract was taken out I was told I'd have unlimited texts, but I'm still being charged?

 

Is this a fault or has the usage policy changed because it never used to be like this, and i was 100% unaware I'd be charged for anything over 3000 texts

When requesting balance using 44555, it tells me I have 0 texts of my 3000 allowance, but I was under the impression I had unlimited

The best thing to do is to probably speak with customer services. It bugs me that companies can market things as unlimited when they have limits. Personally I think there should be a law against that.

But that said, it boggles my mind that a single person can send over 3,500 texts in a month. That is well over 100 per day!
