Typically the contact us e-mail isn't working - would have been useful to know before entering all details!!! Will try later.

I've been waiting for my upgrades for quite a while now.. There is nothing particularly wrong with my current phone, I would just like a change. To begin with my upgrade date was February 20th along with the option to early upgrade for a fee, not too long after this, the early upgrade option got taken away and I was left with "February 20th". It's now got to February 20th, so I go online to check online deals out of curiousity, and wait, what's this? March 31st?
This prompts me to find 'Contact Us' in hope for a LiveChat support which I found pops up randomly (which may I add is a stupid way to do it..). Through LiveChat I spoke to several representatives who didn't really know what they were talking about and kept transferring me from team to team. After a while I managed to get something out of them, that the upgrade policy had changed. Was I told about this? Nope. Not at all. After some research, I found this thread regarding early upgrades which says "We will honour upgrades for those customers that were notified of their upgrade date ahead of any changes that we have made." I interpret this quote as "If I knew my upgrade date before the policy change, Vodafone will honor this date." Although when I spoke to customer services again via LiveChat they told me that because I didn't get a notification about the policy change, they will not honor the original date..?
Due to the terrible service I got through LiveChat and the fact that there was a policy change with no notification, I will be leaving Vodafone ASAP. Even if I have to pay off the rest of my contract.

Agree Karen... Vodafone change the rules to suit themselves. Their Customer service is probably the worst I have experienced. Just spoke to an "advisor" about the same thing as you only to be told "vodafone can change the date when they please". This is one of many run ins I have had with them this past year, and I am seriously considering moving providers to someone who actually gives a damn about the customer.

I thought a contract was a legal document between to partys that could not be broken. Seems vodafone have other ideas of a contract and they can change them whenever they like and see fit to benefit them and not the customer.
Think we all should contact ofcom about this.

Upgrade date online - 23rd March 2012
Last week changed to - 1st Sept 2012
Today - 11th Oct 2012
Poor poor poor service.
Before you change the date (again) I will cancel BOTH contracts I have early and go with O2.
Just not good enough. I'd rather pay cancellation fees than BE LIED TO. Which is what it was, call it whatever you want, give whatever reasons justifying the changes but it was A LIE. You may well be within your rights but it's still LYING.
Dreadful service. A company that will go rapidly in decline if this is how you are going to treat your customers.

I was due to have my upgrade today. But when I logged into the site this morning the upgrade date had changed to the 1st April. I went into the Vodafone shop in Canterbury this afternoon to find out if this was a mistake or not. They told me that the upgrade policy had changed yesterday and that you can only upgrade within the last 50 days of your contract. I am very disappointed with Vodafone for this, it would of at least been helpful to notify customers that this is the case on the upgrade area of "My Account". I read Tom's posting about Vodafone honouring upgrades for customers who had been notified prior to the 20th February, and even quoted this to Vodafone customer services and they were not helpful at all. Because of this as soon as my contract is finished I will be looking to leave Vodafone and take my custom elsewhere with a provider that treats their customers properly!!!

I have just written to Ofcom. I suggest the rest of you do the same. And please do not say you just want your original upgrade date reinstating, demand that Vodafone are fined.

A contract is a legally binding document. Early upgrades do not form part of your contract, as far as your contract is concerned your 'upgrade' date is the same time as the contract ends.
Vodafone offer eary upgrades as a goodwill gesture to customers. No other UK network offers early upgrades.
