Re: Unable to upgrade anymore.

VF seem to be on self destruct, with some of these crazy ideas that get dreamt up. I remember them losing a lot of customers, when they changed the rules on data limits. They had to let people out of their contracts then.

Only a couple of month left on my 2 contracts, so nice and cheap to pay them off. Going shopping for a new phone tomorrow.

Re: Upgrade?!

I understand that vodaphone have changed there upgrade early policy, which i was not happy with but my upgrade date has now completely changed!!

First I could upgrade in April, but could upgrade early online in Feb so i waited til the date in Feb i could upgrade and it then said that i could no longer upgrade early and had to wait until April. I was a bit disappointed but just swallowed it! Now though I am unable to upgrade until 28th May!!! How can my original upgrade date change just like that. I have had no notification email or letter that this would be happening.

Also I have emailed Vodaphone and received a confirmation email saying they would reply within 48 hours. That was 3 days ago I have Just sent another email I wonder if I'll get a reply??

I am so angry I have been with Vodaphone and had the same number for 10 years but then i guess loyalty gets you nowhere seriously considering cancelling my contract.

Early Upgrade option vanished

Not long ago I logged on to my account and it advised that I could upgrade one of the numbers on my account on Feb 23rd.

This option to upgrade has now totally vanished and I am offered a date in August.

Please can someone advise why the option to upgrade early has vanished. Most if not all other mobile networks offer early upgrades to valued customers, so why has Vodafone apparently made the decision to only give good deals to new customers, rather than those of us who pay our bills on time every month?

Re: Early Upgrade option vanished

The reason is surely the same as  the reason why, in the  world of employment, new staff joining the company often get better pay deals than existing, long-serving staff.  This is best expressed as "They haven't left, ergo they are happy with what they're getting."

Early Upgrade on Vodafone contract

Hello

My name is Mike. I am just wondering if there is any way how to upgrade my current contract to new phone. Vodafone website says I am able to upgrade my phone from 21.november 2012. However I upgraded my previous contract before early as well thanks to Online forum Team here. I damaged my phone and I dont have insurance that's why I am considering to upgrade early or anything else. Thank you for your time.

Re: Early Upgrade on Vodafone contract

Hi Mike,

Sorry to hear about your phone.

You still have quite a while to go before you can upgrade so your options really are limited and they would all involve some pretty heafty costs.

The options are:

  • Purchase a new handset in full - this could be expensive depending on the handset you want
  • Pay off part of your contract to a point where you can upgrade - this may be costly initially but in the long run could work out cheaper. Note you do get a discount when paying off your contract.
  • Take an early upgrade and as the remaining months to a new contract - much like you did with your previous upgrade you may end up being in another long commitment though. Note: this may not be available due to the long period you still have on your current contract.
  • Take a second line on your account to get a new handset and cancel your first line when the contract end date is reached

You may be better buying a cheap pay as you go handset and putting your contract SIM in there for a few months until you are closer to your upgrade date.

Re: Upgrade?!

[ Edited ]

I thought only I am having this problem until I found out this forum.

I have two lines with voda and the upgrade were shown as in Jan and May respectively. Like everybody else my upgrade date was changed four times.

Now the one that was supposed to be updated in Jan has slipped to can you believe it June. Not happy at all.

Thinking of upgrading with another provider. Also the tariffs on iPad are horrendous. Have been with VF for a long long time but not really happy with the way upgrade has been dealt with.

VF shouls have had the couresy to at least send an e-mail to customers about changes to upgrade policy.

We get an e-mail to tell us our bill has arrived every month so why not e-mail for news like this, which by the way is a major policy change. Should have been handled better.

Re: Upgrade?!

From the new CAB website:

"If the statement made by the sales person is false and it influenced your decision to buy the service, this is called misrepresentation. If this is the case, you can cancel your contract without charges and may be able to take legal action for compensation. A false statement which influenced your decision to enter into a contract is also an example of an unfair commercial practice. This is a criminal offence."

From the ASA CAP code which Vodafone claim to abide by:

"Promoters must conduct their promotions equitably, promptly and efficiently and be seen to deal fairly and honourably with participants and potential participants. Promoters must avoid causing unnecessary disappointment."

"If, having made a reasonable estimate as in rule 8.9, it is unable to supply demand for a promotional offer because of an unexpectedly high response or some other unanticipated factor outside its control, the promoter must ensure relevant communication with applicants and consumers and offer a refund or a substitute product in accordance with rule 9.5."

I am not letting this go. I suggest everyone on this thread pursues their complaint until Vodafone realise they cannot treat their customers in this way.

Re: Upgrade?!

slimjim81,

I replied to your issue on your other thread here.

As I mentioned if you were in need of a new handset then it's possible something could be arranged however it would incurr a large upfront and continuing cost.

Re: Upgrade?!

Hi,

I am horrified to see that I am not the only one with this problem!! I took out my contract in September 2011as a SIM only contract, but with the specific agreement that I would have the option to upgrade my old phone after 6 months. The only reason why I agreed to this 12 months contract was based on this upgrade option. I am delighted with the advice given on the above thread from the CAB website as I have been telling Vodafone Customer Service Representatives for over 6 weeks that my contract was mis-sold to me and therefore I should be able to be released from it without charge.

I was actually told by a customer service manager that based on this complaint he would look into the taped conversation back in September when I took out my contract. After waiting over a week for this transcript to be sent, I have then been told by another cutomer service manager that they don't hold tapes over 60days old!!!!!!!!!! What??!!!! Are these people even trained on company policy? Or just trained to 'fob' customers off??!!

Appaulled by Vodafone customer services, Have been a loyal customer for over 10 years, but as soon as I'm out of this contract, I'll be going to another service provider!
