Re: Upgrade - Early

Same here. I was supposed to have an upgrade this week but suddenly it seems vodafone has change their policy today from upgrading 180 days before the end of your contract to now only 70 days before end of contract?!!! They didn't think about changing the policy for new customers ongoing rather than changing it mid-way through existing customers contracts?

Re: Upgrade - Early

I put a post about this yesterday, but for some unexplained reason it was removed.

I was due to upgrade this Sunday (29/01), but all of a sudden it changed. Don't see why Vodafone pulled the plug on this without warning or explanation.

Have had enough of Vodafone now, have been with them for a long time but just feel they have gone downhill. Look forward to when I can switch to another supplier

Re: Advanced Upgrades

Hi I was wondering if anyone can help me. i can't remember the date my contract started and was wondering if somone could tell me. I was expecting to upgrade on 1 Feb 2012 but unfortunately that has now been pushed back to 11 May 2012. Based on other posts about this early upgrade withdrawl can I assume that my contract is scheduled to end 90 days after 11 May 2012. Obviously a bit diappointed with this will there be any other ways of early upgrades in the future?

Re: Advanced Upgrades

I went in to upgrade today as had checked before Christmas and this was the day.  However this has been changed to 3 May.  Can you tell me how I get my PAC code to move to another network as I feel this change is totally unreasonable!

Upgrade Woes.

So, the early upgrade option has been removed. Cheers voda.

As such, anyone got any idea how easy it is to buy out the remainder of your contract? If i can't get the phone I want in the timescale I want, then going elsewhere is my only real option, alas. I wanted to stay with Voda, I really did.

Re: Upgrading - inconsistent information from Vodafone

In October 2011 I was given an Upgrade Anytime (190 days) date of 26th January 2012, (a belated upgrade to iPhone 4s, brilliant); I now notice just 2days off, that the Upgrade date has changed to 5th May 2012 ??? now not so happy!

Re: Upgrade?!

the reason i joined this forum was to put forward this complaint as had nothing but crap from vodafone over it. my upgrade was 5th feb and now 15th may. phoned yesterday to ask why got the 'its now expired story' i said ok fair enough but why wasnt i informed as would have bought new phone before now had i known that. why was i offered the early upgrade as a 'loyal customer blah blah blah deal'if it was going to expire before i got to use it? no answer, i said i want to complain and cant use the online email service as out of order. they said would get manager to call me.  four hours later no call so i called again. 'oh the call will come within 24 hours' well its now 28 hours later and shock horror no call.

i tried the online chat help - he just gave me the whole this is for everones benefit as was costing people to upgrade so they stopped it. well when i was offered a few options as a reward and chose early upgrade i was led to believe it was bringing it forward from august to february - nothing was said about having to pay for it! i asked why i was not informed and he said they tried to contact everyone.  my brother in law the same as me and heard nothing so who exactly did they contact?

the man on chat was no help so said would pass me onto a manager who would call me, asked when suitable i told him now! oh cant do that it will be in 24 hours!!

this is ridiculous! where is the customer service? why cant they just honour the people they told originally they would get early upgrades and just not give out anymore, and can they change your contract that way without informing you?

as much as i would love to cancel it i cant as its the only network works in my area but im determined to fight them on this. when i said to girl on phone yesterday i would have bought a new phone by now she said of there is a problem with your phone take it in to be repaired! you cant fix a piece of crap that i have! i got it thinking was a decent starter smart phone and instead its crap beyond belief and cant even put apps in it as vodafone 360 doesnt do them.

i want a blackberry and can see myself buying one and using a pay as you go sim cancelling my monthly contract that i have had over 5 years - great way they treat their loyal customers!!!

Re: Upgrade?!

I share your pain. I just sent something similar to them but if previous dealings with VF are anything to go by then it won't come back with any answers if at all.

Orange appear to have amazing ipad and iphone deals at the moment. My other half just got IPAD2 and Iphone 4s both 16 gb for free and only 60 quid a month.  I think its worth chatting to them as vodafone cant seem to get any of their Communications right.  10 years loyalty repeatedly rewarded with lies and miscommunication or no communication. I think its time to move to a proper company and onethat still has UK call centres.

If anyone from the VF team actually gives a hoot about its customers can you explain why you constantly choose to anger long serving customers with poor responses, non competitive deals and frequently going back on deals that you have offered us?

Shall I hold my breath  - best not

Re: 6 Month Early Upgrade

I have several lines through Vodafone which I use throughout my family.  I recently upgraded one on the lines using the "6 month early" upgrade offer.  I looked a few days ago as another line would be eligible for the early upgrade in February but as I looked today it is now saying May.  Has the offer ended now or is there another reason why the dates have changed?  Any help would be appreciated!

Want to change my phone but unhappy I can no longer upgrade early :-(

When I took out my 24 month contract I was told I could upgrade 6 months early online and I popped into one of the stores around october last year and was told this again, that I would be able to upgrade online in March this year, but logged onto my account and its now saying the 13th of september.  I'm really disappointed as I want to get the iphone 4s so as to have a good camera on my phone for taking pictures of my baby due in march, if I cant upgrade I'm going to have to shell out for a new digi camera aswell :-(

Any help?

Re: Want to change my phone but unhappy I can no longer upgrade early :-(

Hi nicnlilone26,

Vodafone update the Upgrades system earlier this month. You can now upgrade 90 days from the end of your contract.

A full statement about this is posted here

You may be albe to pay off a few months of your existing contract to bring you into your upgrade period, thus allowing you to get a new handset. Best thing to do is contact the @vodafoneukdeals twitter team. They specialise in upgrades so if it is possible they would be able to best advise! For info on how to contact them head over here and follow the instructions. They are a small and very popular team so they may not reply straight away, stick around though as one of the team will get back to you as soon as they can.

Also just to let you knowthe iPhone 4S is still in high demand and there is a little bit of a wait for a handset. They are being delivered as soon as available though.

Oh and Congratulations/Good Luck for the new arrival! :smileyhappy:

Re: Why has Vodafone taken away the early online upgrade option?

Possibly because people were confused by it. An early upgrade does not completely invalidate the previous contract. If you were to upgrade early you would would still have the contracted charge levied towards the cost of the old phone.

In effect what Vodafone did was switch to your new contract and charge you the balance (of the cost of the old phone) as a cost toward the new phone. People got suprised when they found their proposed new phone came with a hefty surcharge, when upgrading early.

If you plan on changing your phone on a frequent basis, then it is perhaps best to buy sim free.
