Vodafone Family

I am currently on my second pay monthly contract with vodafone and took advantage of the Vodafone family service. I bought my girlfriend a pay as you go Vodafone mobile phone and set up her number as one of the numbers on my Vodafone family. The reason for this was so that she could always ring me in an emergency and not have to worry about the cost as I was paying the £5 cost in my pay monthly bill. This service has been working great for a long period of time with no problems. Then all of a sudden she tried to contact me late last night and got a message saying she needed to top up??? I was obviously furious and felt completely let down by Vodafone. I straight away sent an email to Vodafone asking what has happened but so far had no reply. So I rang the number but got a recorded message to say your office is closed. I then checked my online account and it advises the number is set up in my friends and family and active. I went on to search the forums for a solution and found in another post your tech help team advise to ring I think it was 34444 which I did and a recorded voice again advises this number is set up and active as part of my friends and family. So feel I have tried everything with no resolve so my last resort is to post my own forum message in the hope someone at Vodafone wants to take ownership and resolve my query. Surely the friends and family service is set-up to give customers reassurance that family can contact you in an emergency. Well I'm not feeling very assured and you can imagine how upset my girlfriend was when she couldn't get in touch late at night. Kind regards Danny

Re: Vodafone Family

I think I have seen something posted in the forum about this before, in that there had to be 25p of credit on the phone for it to work, or something similar, whether there should be is a different story, there are terms and conditions abt it on the web site and I cannot see anything that says there needs to be credit

Good luck

Re: Vodafone Family

Hello DannyPage

As with all PAYG numbers, the SIM has to be kept active with a regular chargeable call and top up or the SIM gets disconnected.

As you have mentioned, this has been working as it should now for a long time and now your girlfriend has to put a top up and make a chargeable call to keep the SIM active.

You only need to put a minimal amount on her phone and get her to make a chargeable call and you will be able to receive calls from her on Family.
