WAP on my bill

I just thought i would have a look at my online, for no reason in particular, only to find that i have several WAP enteries at silly times ie:03:27 and alike, my phone lives in my bedside cabinet when were in bed and at no time is it used after midnight, what the hell is WAP anyway, I know my phone does silly things at times, as my work mates often say whats your phone doing, the home screen flashes, and often reverts back to the default screen,by it's self.

so can anyone shed any light on what might be going on.

Re: WAP on my bill

Hi,

WAP is when the phone accesses the internet, e.g. goes on a website, downloads an email etc.

First thoughts, do you have an email client set up on the phone at all? Clients can sometimes be set up to poll for new emails automatically (e.g. in the middle of the night) and will lead to occasional data charges.

If that's the case then it might be worth changing the client from automatic polling to manual.

What make and model of phone you're using?

Re: WAP on my bill

Hi kblackburn,

This isn't a handset we have supplied directly at any point, so it doesn't appear in our Help Centre. You can find the handset guide on the Nokia site here, though.

There is the option to bar data at the network level, however you would not be able to re-enable this yourself - you'd need to contact us again - and you would be unable to send MMS picture messages as they use part of the same service.

Let us know if you wish to follow the latter route and we'll be happy to help.

Dave

Re: WAP on my bill

Hi Dave,

this phone was supplied directly by vodafone, it has also been replaced during it's warranty period.

I will check on the nokia web site for instructions on how to disable the feature.
