WHAT ?!?! is the deal with no customer loyalty upgrades?

Seriously am getting a little fed up with better offers for new customers (yes I know VF team, you're probably sick of hearing it, but I haven't posted it before so I guess you get to hear it once more.......) I'm past the end of a 2 year contract (Really wanted the handset for free last time !!).... No offers to save money each month have been received - no contact to upgrade handset - in short, VF still quite happy to keep taking my money each month. Also, have finally checked (in hindsight, guess I should have done this a while back) and my current contract nowhere near meets my usage, ie. too many text messages that I will never use etc..... You think someone would want to question that ? Last of all, I'm searching online to see what deals are available for the Samsung Galaxy S3 that I'm interested in and find out that quidco (never been a member, but signed up in 30 seconds after great recommendations from friends....) offers a £150 QUID CASHBACK on exactly the tariff (24 months / £36PM+ etc.) I want to upgrade to, but it only applies for new contracts - WHAT ? So, as my contract is up - I have to cancel and re-apply? all the PAC code business for the same operator to keep getting my money every month? I understand that these sort of offers are there so companies can attract new business, I suppose they need to if no effort is put into keeping the customers that they do have !!!!!! Come on Vodafone - step up to the plate and look after your customers !! Any views?? Am I completely wrong here?

Re: WHAT ?!?! is the deal with no customer loyalty upgrades?

The money that sites like Quidco offer comes from an affiliate marketing budget - basically sites like Quidco are passing on the money they earn from advertising.  Part of the terms and conditions of such offers is that you are a new customer and are not upgrading.  So you would have to cancel your current contract, take out a new contract using the Quidco offer and end up with a new contract and new number.  You would not be able to move your existing number from one Vodafone Contract to another - you would have to port to to another network and then back to Vodafone.

Have you been in touch with the @VodafoneUKDeals team?  While they probably can't match the £150 cash back - they've helped a lot of eForum members get better deals.  Just follow the instructions in this link to get in touch with them.

Re: WHAT ?!?! is the deal with no customer loyalty upgrades?

Hi mattmarks,

The cashback offer from quidco comes from a completely different part of Vodafone and is offered as a marketing scheme.

There are most definatly offers available to upgrading customers!

Best thing to do is contact the @vodafoneukdeals twitter team. They specialise in fantastic upgrade deals! For info on how to contact them head over here and follow the instructions. They are a small and very popular team so they may not reply straight away, stick around though as one of the team will get back to you as soon as they can.

Even if they can't match the exact tariff you want i'm sure they can get pretty close. I've upgraded 4 lines through them recently because they have offered great deals!

Re: WHAT ?!?! is the deal with no customer loyalty upgrades?

Nabs, drey_p, thanks for your words and advice - I'll contact the team and see what they can do.

I appreciate your comments about the marketing budget etc. and where the money comes from using affiliate programs - however I'd still stand by my initial comments that the money could be put to equally good use retaining existing customers rather than losing them and having to work harder to get new customers business as at the end of the day it's still VF that will be picking up the tab regardless of which department it is - just my 2 penneth.....

Anyway - thanks again - can see why you guys are rated so highly, appreciate your time in replying.
