Re: What is ACCINT on my bill?

Hi,
I just got the same problem as the other users in this post. I tried the tethering service some time last month and I been charged for £5. I can accept that as I did use the service. However, I have just checked my bill again today, I just find out that I have been charged £5 again this month and I have never switched on the personal hotspot on my iPhone. Can anyone help me to get this refund and also please tell me how to stop this happening again? Thanks, very disappoint about Vodafone as I have been with it for more than 10years, it looks like other network does not having this problem and this issue has been with Vodafone for two years but still not solved.

Re: What is ACCINT on my bill?

And just when you think it is sorted out......back it comes!

On the latest bill two of our (five) phones have the ACCINT charge. Since we all have iPhones, and they are all supposed to be on iPhone packages, this should not happen. My email pointing this out (and the texts that were charged the previous month and promised to be refunded) was answered with an explanation of what ACCINT is.....

I know what it is. I just shouldn't be paying for it!

Still.....two of us are now out of contract. And Manx Telecom is looking pretty inviting.

Hi Flyingfemme

I believe this has been resolved since last august based on your posts on the forum, is that true?

If so, it’s strange that it’s suddenly come back. So that we can have a look at this for you I’m going to send you a private message that explains exactly how to get in touch with us.

You can find your PM inbox here

Thanks

Re: What is ACCINT on my bill?

I'm considering this as lesson learned.

I connected my Kindle to my iPhone to download a book whilst at work.

My 77p book finally cost close to £5 due to this tethering charge.

I guess you sometimes learn the hard way.

Re: What is ACCINT on my bill?

Hello,

I am having the same issue. I have been billed for this ACCINT too on 30 Mar 2012 to the value of 4.167. I have never used this iPhone for 'tethering' and don't intent to either as I have adequate wireless coverage at home.

I checked my settings and noticed that the personal hotspot was 'on' but I've never used it to access the net on another device.

If I understand from the other posts that if I update my contract that this is automatically included - is this right?  In all honesty since finding the charge and reading the posts I can actually see a benefit of having it so I can access the net on my ipad outside the home.

Although I'm not happy being charged a fiver for something I never used.

Could someone be kind enough to contact me to resolve my issue too please.

Many Thanks

David Williams

Re: What is ACCINT on my bill?

Not only did my iPhone pack up after 13 months (yes, that's right, out of guarantee but still under contract for another 11 months) I now find I'm being charged an extra fiver simply for the privilege of using the data I've already paid for.

Never again Vodafone.

Re: What is ACCINT on my bill?

Hi zzipp2006

Thanks for your post. We'll require access to your account to see what price plan you're on and also how much data was used via tethering on your March bill.

All price plans taken out since June 2011 include tethering and Personal Hotspot usage from within your monthly data allowance. Price plans taken before June 2011 do not automatically include the tethering APN and therefore will be charged separately.

I've sent a private message with details of how to contact us directly. You can find your PM inbox here. If you can't access this link, please ensure that the box next to "Turn on private messages" is ticked on this page, and let us know if you need any further assistance.

Hi martin999

The warranty provided with all of our devices is for the duration of the agreement with the exception of Apple products which is 12 months. This warranty period is set by Apple themselves and the warranty can only be extended through the purchase of Apple care. We have no control over this.

In relation to your price plan, it's more than likely that you're in the same situation as zzipp2006 above in that your price plan was taken out before JUne 2011. In this case, you're not paying again for mobile data you've already paid for, you're paying for tethering which is an additional charge on these plans.

If you'd like us to review your price plan, I've sent a PM so that you can contact us directly and we'll happily run through the options for you.

Thanks

Simon

Re: What is ACCINT on my bill?

Hi Simon I've got the same charges on my bill. I upgraded in feb 2012 so I assume from what's been previousily been said any tethering usage should be included in my data allowance? If this is the case can you help with getting charges refunded and future usage included? Not a fan of call centres :smileyhappy:

Re: What is ACCINT on my bill?

I am a bit dissappointed with this now appearing on my Bill ....

I specifically called vodafone customer services twice to confirm that tethering was included in my service plan before I began to use it.  Twice I was advised that tethering was included ... I was even sent a text -although it did say "500mg tathering" but i think i know what she was trying to say, or maybe not.

Very dissapointed...

I don't see why tethering to the iPhone is treated differently from other handsets.

Re: What is ACCINT on my bill?

Tethering is treated differently on iPhones to other phones because of the way that Apple have implemented tethering in the iO|S| operating system.

if your contract was taken out after June 2011 there should be no extra charge for tethering. If the contract pre-dates June 2011 I'm afraid that there is a charge.

Re: What is ACCINT on my bill?

Looks like the dates mentioned by Jekkfinn are correct.  I was able to get an online chat session with vodafone support who changed my contract (same price and same minutes etc) to one of the latest ones which includes tethering to the iphone.  I was also refunded for the charges.

My contract was pre June 2011, not included tethering.  The wifes was post June 2011 and already included tethering.

Re: What is ACCINT on my bill?

Hi,

Since last month i found out i was billed again for using ACCINT this month. I thought this was related to using WAP abroad. I went abroad so i took it for granted. Unfortunately, i was billed again this month. I was puzzled and looked back all my past statements and i was billed ACCINT since last year. I should have noticed....

So i investigated further and found out that its to do with internet tethering on my iphone 4.  I don't use it alot... and my phone never permenantly set that way.

I need some help here and refund some unnecessary charges?

thanks

[ Edited ]

Hi BobCox,

Unfortunately we wouldn’t be able to refund any of the charges incurred for tethering on the iPhone as it was the phone (setting activated) that has caused the charges to be incurred.

However, if you would like us to look at a package that includes the tethering for you that will stop any future charges please follow the instructions on the PM that I have sent to you and we will be able to discuss this further.

You can find your PM inbox here.

Re: What is ACCINT on my bill?

Hi

I've been reading about the ACCINT & we are on a business plan with 5 iphones, contract date pre-June 2011 (2 phones) then the other 3 added in December 2011. We are charged the tethering fees on all the phones, even though the last 3 we post Jun-11. This doesn't seem right, surely these last 3 should not be charged tethering because the start date was later. I've seen the replies relating to switvhing to a different package where tethering is included. I called Vodafone & was told that all we could do was add a bundle of £10 or £15 PER PHONE, but no switching to a deal that includes tethering (when we are currnetly charged £5  PER PHONE, so not a help in any way shape or form). Surely if you can switch a personal customer then you should apply the same rules to business customers. Can you help with this?
