Hi everyone, I bought an iPhone 4 yesterday on a 24 month contract (this is the first time I have ever been with Vodafone) and they said they were going to carry out a credit check and that i just had to wait for them to contact me.... Now I spoke to an online advisor and he said if all goes well then I could have the phone today, but it takes an average of 2-4 days but I still haven't heard back about the credit check so I guess I aren't going to get the phone tomorrow either! I'm just being extremely eager...I guess you all know what the excitement is like of getting a new phone ;-) 

Can anyone please tell me when I can expect to hear back about my credit check and how long it is then until i receive my new phone?

Hi BlueLaura and welcome

The time frame that you have been quoted of 2-4 days is typical of the average new contract.  It can take a couple of days to run the credit check and, presuming that there are no problems with it, another day or so to ship the phone and get it to you.  Once your credit check is completed, you will be notified of the results.  Once the phone is shipped, you will also be informed.

I bet you can't wait to get a new phone!

2-4 days is FAR too long lol ;-) am I right in thinking the credit check is the £1 they take out of your bank? Thanks very much for your quick response!

Yeah - tell me about it... I am counting down the days before I can upgrade! LOL

The credit check broken up into 2 parts: the ID check, and then the Credit Check itself.  The ID check is where VF would verify your address and that you are who you say you are. The checking of your Credit Score is where VF sends your information to Experian and they come back with a credit score and details of any problems you have had like missed or late payments.

Just to add to drey_p's post, the £1 they take from your bank account is like a test transaction to ensure that the account is 'live' and they would not have problems taking the direct debit.  You may well see that £1 transaction refunded at some point but I am not sure.

Hi again guys...It's the 4th day now and I STILL haven't heard back from Vodafone..Bearing in mind they said I would have my phone within 2-4 days! Does anyone have any ideas as to what's going on??

When they say you will receive your phone within 2-4 days that's from a successful credit check. Assuming your check took 2 days and was successful, you'd be on day 2 of waiting.

Also, if there are issues with the phone being in stock that will slow the process. I would reccommend checking your emails to see if/when you received an email stating the results of credit check. If you have nothing then tomorrow (well today technically now) I would ring them up and get them to look into it for you. They will be able to tell you if you passed the credit check and the status of your order x
