confused about upgrading!!!!

Hi, i posted on here yesterday about upgrading and was sent an e-mail so that someone could contact me which i have replyed to, but when i was on the vf site this morning a box popped up for me to chat to an adviser and so i took the opportunity to ask a few questions one of which was that i was looking to uprade to a htc desire hd but i don't want to pay more than £30 per month! The phone is available @ £30 per month but at a price of £99!! Which i was told would still be the same at 70 days before and of contract, i have seen that Carphone warehouse can do it for £30 per month on Vodafone!! I am however still waiting for someone to contact me from vf as i was told that they are able to offer some good deals on the desire hd!!! Any ideas as to what is right was also told by the adviser that they can't override the upgrades, is this true?

Many thanks for your time on the phone today. I'm really glad I managed to help you retain your current plan and knock off the £99 handset cost in your case!
