You wont have to start your contract again, your contract end date will remain unchanged. Your minutes will go back to zero for the period to your billing date and you will receive a proportionate allowance. Its the same as when you start your contract.

Yes you can call customer services to change your number. Can I just add that if you need to change it because of harassment I believe they will do it for free. I know this used to be the case but am unsure if it is still correct. If it is just because you want to change the number you will have to pay for it.
