I'm new to vodafone and was looking at buying a decent number from ebay for it. Do you have to give vodafone the pac when ordering or can you give them it at any time during the contract?

Hope you enjoy your iPhone 4 as much as I do!
Unfortunately you will need to submit your PAC code at point of order, otherwise we'll allocate you a mobile number. Your only other option will be to return the phone, and start afresh with PAC in hand when it's back to us.
If you need anything else, please let us know!

I would like to say yes you can order you iPhone 4 and not check the keep old number on the online order as i have done it and was instructed to do it this way by a online advisor as i did it, also have just ported my old number to the new micro sim today and will be activated between 11am ~ 4pm tomorrow.
the phone was allocated a temp number and as long as you dont activate the phone prior to sending the details by email by 7 days from collection of phone you are ok to do so. these are the details you have to send and who to (provided by the online advisor
( type a brief description such as following)
Please could you transfer a mobile number from another supplier to the new contract as detailed below;
1. Existing mobile number to be ported:
2. Temp Mobile Number (supplied with micro sim )
2. PAC Code From supplier:
3. New account number: ( sent via email or in package )
4. Account Holder Full name, address, and date of Birth:
Email to email@example.com within the 7 days after receiving the new contract sim
So i think that the MODs on here need to look into this as i have said i was advised to do this via a online adviser and also have transcript saved in case i needed it, which i didnt as phone will be sorted tomorrow.
i have to say i was really amazed as i was calling from Afghan to have this sorted, the lady on the phone was very helpful, took my details etc then went and spoke to the porting dept, then came back and gave me all the right answers, i have been in contact with my wife who has my phone and is sorting it for me and she has just told me the phone has just gone dead and my other number has done also so looks like is going ahead already lol.
so give it ago i did and now i got a semi (should be tomorrow) working iPhone 4.
Just a little miffed that the wife gets to play with my new toy before i return from here.

Thanks for posting and sorry for the confusion, I'll clear this up now.
We recently introduced 'in-life' porting which lets you port your old number over after purchasing a new contract, rather than before.
To give as many of our customers access to this service as soon as possible, we are rolling it out in phases. Unfortunately that means that if you weren't advised that you can use the web-form when you bought your Vodafone service, you may experience problems with your account if you use the web-form to transfer your old number. To avoid this we have disabled this link until the service is available to everyone.
