new vodafone contract/ keeping vodafone old number

Hi there,

I have just taken out a new vodafone contract with my existing vodafone one ending next month. I wish to keep my old number with the new contract but not sure how to do it. I am happy to end my existing contract early to transfer my number to the new contract.

any advise is much appreciated.

cheers

Hello appie2nl

The easiest and quickest way to get this done would be to give Customer Care a call and ask for a PAC code for your previous number.  Port the number out to any network, you will need to activate the SIM and top up a minimum amount and then ask for a PAC code and move the number onto your new Vodafone contract by completing www.vodafone.co.uk/keepmynumber  or by calling the Porting Team on 08080 945 945, Option 3.  If the other network ask why you are porting out so soon just say you have a signal problem. As soon as you use the PAC code, you will get the final bill with any early termination charges.

Alternatively, if you let Customer Care know what you intend to do, they may be able to transfer your number to PAYG and you can then transfer the number to the new contract the same way.

You will find that your online account will be cancelled at the same time and this will need setting up again.  Any problems come back to the forum or give Customer Care a call.

I have done this a few times, started a new contract then transferred my old number over without any issues. The number porting contact number is 0845 44 22 423.

usually only takes a few minutes even though they state it can take 24 hours :-)

There is no need for a PAC code as it is vodafone to vodafone....call that number and they should sort you out :-)
