I just purchased a new android phone. My sim worked fine in other phones but in this one the data will not work. I have the right APN settings. I tried my daughters sim card which is with giffgaff and data works fine. Does anyone have any solutions? I have tried customer services but they just say it is the phone but I if it was the phone surely data from other networks would not work either. This is driving me insane.

The quickest and easiest way to set up Internet and on your phone is by texting web to 40127. That should send the correct settings to your phone and configure it for both Internet and MMS messages. If that doesn't go through, you can enter the settings manually following the details in the link below:

How old is the SIM Card - I wonder if it may be worth your while popping into your local Vodafone store and getting a new one, that is the only other thing I can think of that may be causing you an issue. It won't cost you a thing, and the store will even activate the SIM for you.

and finally....after 1 week of no access i went through the settings slowly and discovered authentication type was not set at all. Set it to none and bingo , all working! Yes most IT problems human error. Justy glad to have it sorted.
