upgrade farce

[ Edited ]

i organised an upgrade on monday, and was told it would hopefully be delivered today. i received two delivery confirmation texts yesterday, one with my DPD tracking number in it. the tracking number doesn't work, so i called 191, only to find out that it has been sent through royal mail! i've not received any notification that it would be sent via royal mail, or a tracking number, but what i have received is a card saying that they couldn't deliver because the sender didn't pay the full postage! i'm not waiting for any other package, so i assume this is my phone.

what terrible, terrible customer service!

Re: upgrade farce

If you arranged your upgrade through telesales, the phone is usally sent by courier.

If your phone was sent by Royal Mail, it would be by Special Delivery the postage of which has to be paid in advance, and you would have needed to be in to sign for the delivery.

Re: upgrade farce

you clearly didn't read my post. i was told it would be sent by courier, was texted a confirmation that it would be sent as such, and was told over the phone within the last hour (after i called to ask why my DPD tracking number wouldn't work) that it was in fact being sent royal mail.

there was someone in the house to sign, but royal mail do not deliver items that require postage to be paid!

Re: upgrade farce

my main point is that i was told it would be courier-delivered, and it hasn't been. i have no way of telling what is waiting for me at the depot, but if it's my phone, i will be even more angry that i am for having being lied to about delivery method.

Re: upgrade farce

Before you get start accusing me of not reading your post, because I can assure you I did.

Special Delivery requires the postage to be paid and stamped in advance before it is delivered to the Post Office to be despatched.

Perhaps you should check it out with your local Sorting Office.

It may still arrive by courier, todays deliveries are still being delivered.

Re: upgrade farce

can you answer my question of why vodafone sent me a DPD reference and then told me on the phone it was not being sent by DPD? or why i have not been given a special delivery reference? because that is my question. you may well have read my post, you obviously did not understand it. the fact i have something waiting at the depot is a side issue.

Re: upgrade farce

Hi eithiesfan

Welcome to the eForum :smileyvery-happy:

I am sorry to see that you are trying to figure out when you are going to receive your new handset, it is always an exciting time to get something new, so I can understand your frustration here.

I can see that AnnS is trying to assist to here, so please keep things civil when someone is trying to help as much as they can.

With regards to deliveries, in the areas most effected by the bad weather, some orders have been transferred from courier to a Royal Mail delivery, so that the order is delivered in the fastest way.

So that I can get a definitive answer for you, I have just sent you an email, if you can reply to that with the relevant information I then then find what is happening with your order.

Thanks

Martin

Re: upgrade farce

thank you martin, i appreciate that ann was trying to help, but i was looking for a reply from someone who could provide further assistance, or a shared experience, who understood where i was coming from. i am feel quite frustrated, given that i have put plans on hold to return home to pick up my new phone today! i find it strange that glasgow is seen as affected by bad weather - it's been fine here for over a week. i await your email.

Re: upgrade farce

i give up, no one at vodafone actually wants to help, when all that is required is a royal mail tracking number. i'll have to decide whether i want to carry on with the upgrade and keep my vodafone contract when i receive the phone, whenever that is.
