You might have the same info as me then Jayc in regards to the kernel and modem issues... From what I know there have been some new kernel patches officially released not too long after you guys got the ICS update, so hopefully Samsung and Vodafone can push the small OTA update as soon as it has been ratified if it actually fixes the issue or not.

Issue is the same everywhere I go but Im based mainly BD18 - BD10 area .
As I've mentioned before, it works fine in H through Sure Signal without any drops to 3g or rises to H+.
Seems like the stalls happen when the phone flicks between them all.

Its a bit different when its from Sure Signal though because it uses your own signal generated by your internet connection? In real world connections beyond it, issues seems to occur?
Its hard to pin down as I don't have access to this phone often to run some tests but obviously something isn't working as it should be.

Hi heatherburke,
Thanks for your time on the phone, and I have passed your details on as discussed to our technical team.
-----------------------------------------------
phillip_wong852 - Apologies, it looks like we missed your post confirming your details. I'm popping you a PM now as well so we can get all your details to our technical guys to help with the investigation.
As always, the more cases you guys can confirm these specific details for us, the better for the guys looking into this:
- Model of phone
- Firmware version
- Specific affected postcode(s)
- Can you recreate the issue easily?
- Would you be willing to work with our technical teams directly to help identify the issue, for instance providing your details so we can track the progress of any traffic from your device or downloading an app to let us monitor the cell usage?
- Have you tried backing up and performing a factory reset of the handset, then tested without any apps installed to ensure that there is nothing which could affect the firmware on the device?
Dave

OK everyone - I spebt £5 on my own money just to help out Vodafone and and I got a 3 data sim. Here are my findings.....
- 3 has much less H+ coverage than Vodafone in & around London
- Even when on H+, 3 is slower than Voda IF Voda is working.
BUT
- I thought it had done the stall problem on 3 once - but I think it was just a completely lost signal
- 3 would operate on just H quite happily whereas this is not something that Voda will do. SO to confirm, this problem did not occur on 3
- HOWEVER it may be that Vodafone's problem is that the H does not work becaus the phone senses H+ is available but not responding.... perhaps if only H was actually available, Voda would be ok.
Overall 3 was slower but much less frustrating as it didnt keep doing nothing at all.
I will do the same journey next week with my Voda sim and see what it does & report back.....
Can Vodafone's technical dept. please share with us the results of their tests - after all its only fair as I have been able to do some of their job for them as well as my own full time job
Now as Voda's technical dept. cant replicate the fault I will happily let them have a barely used 3 data only SIM.....
For just £4.75 which is the value still left on it.
GET IT SORTED OR I'M OFF
Still waiting to here from technical support having provided all my details after the PM and (very friendly) telecon with the forum person. Seems to have gone very quiet.
PROGRESS REPORT PLEASE VODAFONE

I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
Make and receive calls????? Since when did I report that problem??
So basically all those phone calls, emails, travelling to stores etc were ignored and now Im being fobbed off with a fixed issue i never had in the first place.
Nice work Vodafone.
As for the tech team that wanted my details and me to help them, not heard a thing.

On to my issue, well mine is resolved thanks yet again to a fantastic customer support team!!!
I will maintain, the eforum team are perfect, the customer support is perfect but the repair team are just an absolute joke!!!!! I have expressed my concerns over them via the phone but I don't see them changing their ways. The problems include sending my latest repair back to me with a BROKEN SCRREN!!!! This was a 2 week old phone which I had used for a week!!!!
I am happy with my outcome now, but hope to hell the repair team get their back sides into gear and sort this issue out for good!!!

@Vodafone..
we have given you lots of info
we have done tests for you - I purchased a 3 SIM card to see what happens with that
we then went through all the hassle of repeating everthing - submitting it for your help desk
I volunteered to speak to them, agreed that you could download software to check the problem.
UPDATE CAN NOW BE GIVEN PLEASE......
1. HAS THE TECH TEM DONE ANYTHING - HOW MANY TESTS HAVE THEY DONE, CAN YOU SAY WHAT?
2.HAVE THEY BEEN IN TOUCH WITH ANYONE?
3. HAVE THEY BEEN ABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM - IF Y - WHAT ARE THEIR FINDINGS - IF N - HAVE THEY CONTACTED ANY OF US FOR MORE DETAILS & IF NOT, WHY NOT?
Cmon now VODAFONE - this has been going on for FAR TOO LONG NOW - PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I received a phone call from Damon in the tech team.
Unfortunately I missed the call.
Voicemail message said he was wanting to know when and where i was receiving the dips in network. Not sure how many times i can say all day and everywhere, maybe its my yorkshire accent they don't understand.
Damon said he would email me..... Guess what...
He didn't.
Tried to get in touch via phone with the elusive Damon at tech but after being passed from one person to another i got nowhere, he hasn't put anything on my account about the call or email. No surprise there.
Fed up now Vodafone. :-(

I got an email from then and i have to tell them when it happens and the postcode
They are rather ellusive - I think they want to be able to contact us but not vice-versa
If they ring, they could give contact details even if its just an email address
Very frustrating way of working vodafone!

Ive done everything you wanted me to do. About time you returned the favour.
@Dave the forum guy
What happened to the special tech team dealing with this issue? They were supposed to ring within 24 hours of your call, that was approx 468 hours ago :-P Heard nothing???
