Far too much to read when it's riddled with blatant spelling mistakes Northern-dj

Re: Ice Cream Sandwich on Galaxy s2?

Blame Vodafones spell checker for that

plus can not edit to fix after a time scale has past

Internet Exploer spell checker does not work

But thanks for the heads UP!!!

Back to it After the teacher has spoken

screen shots just in

Well what a mess really they should be a screen shot of gingerbread version and then we can do a spot the difference

The stock one is from the Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Thankfully XDA are working on a Stock Launcher so you can then install and choose stock Android or Touchwiz but this does not look good

some of the key features are still there ish the screen that shows what's running to get to that you have to press the home button then you just swipe them off the camera app looks the same as the old ginger bread but has the new features on it

These comments from a Samsung Engineer

So perhaps we should start a list what is there and what's not

But here is the most upto date  date form Gsm Arena

Re: Ice Cream Sandwich on Galaxy s2?

Hi Allan87, everyone has different strengths, NDJ's is his knowledge of phones, and he's just trying to offer insight here.

Please be mindful of the impact such posts can have on other forum members. I don't want anyone to be put off posting here because of concerns about their spelling or anything, this is a place where all are welcome :smileyhappy:

Thanks,

Tom

Re: Ice Cream Sandwich on Galaxy s2?

Enough said....

I wonder how many members are going to be dissapointed by the lack of visual difference that having TouchWiz launcher  in place will make?

Flavours of Android is what makes it interesting, and TouchWiz has some strengths. The Clock and Calendar Apps are the best I believe. Also the lack of impact on the System is also a major winner compared to say, HTC Sense that of late has been a System Hog.

Thoughts...?

Re: Ice Cream Sandwich on Galaxy s2?

I would have still like the option to use the stock ICS launcher if i wanted, as apposed to TouchWiz launcher. Why was the option removed in the official version.

Re: Ice Cream Sandwich on Galaxy s2?

There are reports that Samsung are developing a TouchWiz 5 launcher with emphasis on less obvious visual differences whilst retaining the Samsung flavour.

We shall see...

TBH TouchWiz isn't that bad. It's something people can only control with their wallets though!

I actually like the colourful graphical nature of TouchWiz, but as N-dj said previously, the look is getting rather old!

Re: Ice Cream Sandwich on Galaxy s2?

Soup the rumours are right there is a touchwiz 5 on its way but it sonds like it will be on the S3 as there looks to be no home button Grrrrrrrrrr

The opinion of my local service centre were well  nothing to right home about

They even tested it on theer boss who after five mins found out it was ICS he said what rom is that

He was then told, He said OOOOHdear

The XDA lads are bevaring away on this, Ramad one of the rom developers said that test are good at the moment

It will be pagaged as a apk so we can use both, but he said some developers at first wanted it just for there custom roms

so we all might see the laucher

The HTC version seems to be a better Launcher they have listerned

[ Edited ]

If you are on XEU firmware you are on the current firmware. (2.3.4)
VOD firmware is currently on 2.3.5.

However the Samsung ICS firmware is currently being rolled out. The UK XEU ICS firmware rollout should start on Monday. So try and connect via kies on Monday and you should be offered ICS. The VOD ICS firmware will be rolled out via OTA when Vodafone have added there bloat to it.

As stated 2.3.4 on your phone is still the latest firmware when kies offered you the update it would of told you what the update was, did you see what it offered you ?

Not herd of this

I would wait for Monday and see what happens

Re: Ice Cream Sandwich on Galaxy s2?

LOL we no but thanks for reminding

were all dreading what Vodafone do

One good thing would be to get ride of touch wiz and put a stock one on

Then Trust me when i say A Vodafone rom would be the top going

But

That will never happen

I'm probably going to put a stock ICS rom on if I'm not impressed with the touch wiz ICS.
