@andymed - i know it's been said a few times, but did you try a factory reset before attempting to upgrade? (see earlier in thread)

@ andymed - follow all the instructions for connecting phone to system as a drive and back it up, sync your contacts out to google, then go for it. I've never had an issue with a factory reset before, but remember it is what it is a reset.

Re: Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade for GALAXY S II!!!

Hi - there seems to be some very knowledgable people here! I am so sorry if my question has already been asked but there is like 40 pages on here and I can't be arsed to read them all (sorry)

I updated to ICS as soon as I could and on the whole loving it.

However, my battery life seems to have deteriorated significantly. I am not getting a full charge out of the day - maybe half a day and my battery is flat. I was previously getting a whole days medium use and then recharging on a night. Has anyone got any recommendations?

On another matter, VODAFONE, please can you come back to my emails? I need you to confirm you will not be charging me for data usage which I didnt ask my phone to use whilst roaming.. you give me a daily amount of data whilst roaming but becuase I updated to ICS I hadn't turned off the setting in the play store to not download updates whilst not on wifi, hence, when I looked at my phone in the morning I had 10+ text messages from vodafone saying you are about to use up your data and buy another 5mb for £5 - so it's cost me some £50 to update a load of apps which I didn't want it to. Please respond to your customer as I am waiting for you to come back to me for about 5 days now!!

@scoon

You will need to let your battery fully discharge and then fully recharge it for a couple of cycles. This lets ICS optimise the battery.

Hope this helps!

Re: Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade for GALAXY S II!!!

Hi scoon

Thanks for your post. In regards to your battery life query, JSK73 is spot in. Just let your battery run a couple of full discharge and recharge cycles and you should begin to see an improvement. Also check that settings such as push notifications and location services haven't been updated to on where maybe they previously weren't active.

In relation to your bill query, I have searched for your e-mail address that you have registered with the eForum and no e-mail has been received into any of the inboxes in the business. Did you send the e-mail from an alternative e-mail address? If so do you have the reference from the auto-reply so that I can locate it, the reference will similar to #8700000.

Alternatively, I've sent a private message with details of how to contact us directly. We'll be more than happy to respond as soon as the e-mail is picked up in our inbox.

You can find your PM inbox here. If you can't access this link, please ensure that the box next to "Turn on private messages" is ticked on this page, and let us know if you need any further assistance.

Thanks

Simon
