Looking on TechRadar this morning it looks like the update will be done via KUES, not fota. there is a downloadable pdf giving a run through of the new operating syatem. Its aimed at sales folk showing us how to use it.

I have been tweeting voda for a while now, they have had the ICS rom for quite a while and while others networks are keeping their customers up to date, Voda does not seem to provide us with the same respect.
We are not asking for it to be released before its been tested, but we could do with an update.
I see no point in haveing a twitter team at voda when you can not get simple answers.
ICS has been tested with vodafone network as it seems voda in some countries have released it.
Some kind of info would be nice Voda

you gotta love when poeple join a message and don't read the 4 pages before them and just go "where is ICS???" hehe.
we're all frustrated that we don't have it but i'm sure if every member of this forum posted a message saying "where is it?" vodafone would still come back with "coming soon"
the best we can do now is wait and rant about how long it takes a team of people to "quality test" and add bloatware to our much needed update.

Slightly off topic but kind of related...
I've been really looking forward to the ICS update for ages, until I increasingly realised that on the GS2 at least...it changes very little design-wise apart from the lock screen (which is welcome...whoever designed the current one has ZERO idea about ergonomics)
So anyway I know lots of you will know about 'launchers', but for those who don't and also don't want to root etc, I really suggest you check out 'go launcher ex' (others are available).
It's totally free and after I installed it yesterday I have to say I was just amazed. The customization is limitless, and you can completely change the look of your phone without rooting or anything. There's also tons of free themes and widgets for it on the market, and for me at least it's got rid of the lag that I always had in touchwiz.
OK I know that sounds like an advert! But like I said it's free. I'm still looking forward to ICS for the under-the-bonnet changes etc, but really this is what I should have done the moment I got the phone. Makes me wonder though...why can't a huge company like Samsung create software that's in the same league!

someone mentioned earlier in this message that the s3 may have touchwiz 5 which would be nice if they could roll that out across the board. but we shall have to see.
there are plenty of launchers out there, and as soon as ICS comes out i'm sure most people will choose the launcher which gives their phone that lovely stock ICS.

Quick one. When are you planning to release Ice Cream Sandwich for SGS2?

It's been on test for over a week now Vodafone.
A little update would be nice.
The version we are testing is looking good/bad and will be released this/next week/month
All you have to do is some crossing out...

Sometimes the simple answer is overlooked because it's technology that's complicated!

this has been in testing for longer than a week.
vodafone australia have it a little bit better and have a weekly digest of whats going on, although it just says if something is "in testing"
http://blog.vodafone.com.au/blog/software-update-w
this says that aussie vodafone received ICS for testing in the week of the 22nd feb!! and it's still in testing?!?!?! now i'm not sure if this means that vodafone internationally got it for testing at the same, or around the same same but they're still waiting down under for it to be released, a month on! does it really take that long for testing? the bulk of testing would have been done by google and samsung before they released it and granted, they may release with a few bugs but let them deal with that, it's their job!
why not let the community test it now the developers have released it? i'm sure, just as we've ranted on here, we'll be quick enough to point out any issues and the relevant parties will iron them out accordingly. thats software development at its best! those who are happy with there phones as they are don't have to update. simples!

but that doesn't stand as a weekly update, the link i posted is a weekly newsletter which shows any updates for a multitude of phones, in one place for simple access.
telling us "it's under testing and it'll be coming asap" isn't an update, most people knew that already.
this was also posted 6 days before the official release by samsung. what would have been an update is:
"Samsung recently announced the scheduled release of ICS for the galaxy S2 for the 19th march. vodafone take pride in moving quickly to test software before releasing it to our customers. with that in mind we aim to have ICS released for vodafone UK customers by "insert date here" "
that way a something called a deadline is set. it lets the consumer know when to expect something and sets a target for the testers. if you need to move the deadline, announce it.
if the millions of companies around the world worked by the ethos of "when it's done, it's done. we're not sure when but we may let you know" they would all be bankrupt. nothing would get done!

Welcome to the world of Vodafone UK
Were it all works in a need to know and the members and the eforum team don't get to no
The last comment was only put on as Vodafone Australia posted it on there Blog that it was in testing with them
Now some have mentioned Bloatware well Vodafone has been on a diet on that mainly as the have ditched a lot of there services
e.g. all the 360 rubbish and they have ditched the EA demo games that you could not remove
Two main phones shaped this the sister phone the Galaxy S and the HTC desire both got hammered in the past
But it still is there on the windows phones
Vodafone would have to be nuts again to try Bloatware or junkware to the Android community
as we all dispite the brands stick togeather
On the Galaxy Nexus there was only one app call my vodaphone and that was easily removed
Vodafone argue that the roms on there phones are to benifit there users and to improve there experiance .
But we don'y buy the phone because it has a Vodafone rom on it, and were not buying it because its branded Vodafone.
Most are buying it for the price and the deals.
at the end of our contracts we want to be able to sell the phone on or pass this on well you can do half and that is the phones are unlocked but they still have Vodafone roms on
What Vodafone need to realize is Firmware sells phones and being with a network that looks after there customers sells phones, But if customers get none of these they walk
The Nexus range is getting more popular and Many Galaxy s users have moved to that as there fed up with all the messing around
Samsung also need to sort this as they pray on iphone users
This has gone on for long enough iphone users are used to the whole package
The other problem is lack of information angers users as we all no when a update comes out
with Iphone they say a date its out on a date even with Google its out on a date
Most manufacture stick to there dates when we get one
The lack of information only angers and winds people up this needs sorting
in testing and asap clearly is upsetting people as well
Other networks are giving more information out
But If the eforum get to no any thing i no personally they will tell us, Its Vodafone them self that needs to sort this
The eforum do pass what we say on lets hope somthing is sorted soon

Yep but it's the same old problem that has plagued every android phone
Firmware and when were getting it !!!
Apple users don't have this
and its every time there is a Update
Why has this problem never been sorted
come on Vodafone show the other networks how its done
Of cause we no the that what ever we do will change this
Lets think how do we make customers happy !!!!!!!

Hi, just a short one, when will i be getting ICS? every other network has at least declared roughly when they will roll out the update but voda have sort of avoided answering the question. I'm sure im not the only customer who is getting frustrated by this topic

OMG!! chill out, at least we're getting the upgrade. if you bought a laptop with windows vista did you expect a free version of windows 7 ??? same thing really. I want ics too but what's a few more days (or weeks) do you guys not realise that you own one of the best smartphones out there right now? what was wrong with it before ics came out?? that's right.... nothing! it's still that same phone that you probabaly raved about when you first got it. be patient it will be here when it's ready and it won't cost a penny.

The whole point of Android is an ever evolving os,, available freely. I think you're missing the point of this nearly 6 page rant gridlerbing.
