Early Upgrade to Samsung Galaxy S2

Hi,

I've become eligible for an early upgrade on 22nd Oct. I was looking forward to upgrade my current Google Nexus One to Samsung Galaxy S2. However, the upgrade option presented to me on the web was quite expensive! This has completely put me off Vodafone now. I think it's better off to wait a couple of months until my contract ends and get the same handset from the rival 3* company who are providing a way cheaper deal to new customers.

Both my brother and I got the Google Nexus One from Vodafone the very first day it came out on the market. Now that we have been with Vodafone for sometime we were really looking forward to this early upgrade option and stay with Vodafone. However, I think the trend with most of the companies now a days it to ignore the loyality of the current customers and offer attractive deals to lure new customers!!

So long Vodafone...you've not been nice to this loyal customer.

Raj

Hi Raj,

Welcome to the eForum... Very Happy.gif

Don't be in too much of a hurry to leave!

Give the Web Relations Team a chance to look at your options. You may be able to organise a deal that enables you to stay with Vodafone!

The Network you mention is one I have had the misfortune to use in the past. The Grass is not always greener on the other side...!

Hopefully you will stay with Vodafone and stick around on the eForum.

Re: Early Upgrade to Samsung Galaxy S2

Hi there Ian_C,

I am unfortunately experiencing the same problem as the Op's post.  The Samsung Galaxy S2 is disappearing and reappearing on the site when I hit the upgrade link on my account.  Also, I noticed yesterday I could get a plan (900 minutes/ 3000 txts / 750MB) for the same current price of £36 that I'm currently paying for my contract, I've noticed the "starting price" went from £36 to £41 as well over the 24 hour period. But also, even on top of that, now today, I cannot select any plans on any phone whatsoever.

Just like the Op, I'd like to upgrade to the Samsung Galaxy S2 early and willing pay the early fees to do so.  Any help would be greatly appreciated! :smileyhappy:

Regards,

Tony

Re: Early Upgrade to Samsung Galaxy S2

Hi

this looks to be a common issue. I was up for early upgrade on the 27th, but the website just isnt playing ball. I've been a vodafone customer for 10+ years and seem to have issues every time I'm up for upgrade.

I have decided on the Samsung Galaxy S2, but it seems the website is trying to charge me quite an extorionate upgrade fee, bearing in mind I could get a better deal as a new customer. I can put the phone in the basket but it keeps comming up no plans available. this is the same for all the phones.

My current Nokia N900 is faulty so an upgrade is desperately needed.

Help.

Craig

Re: Early Upgrade to Samsung Galaxy S2

I have been a vodafone customer for over 4 years now . On my latest contract I have been on a HTC Legend (probably one of the most glitchy phones to have ever been sold by vodafone) for 1.5 years now. However during this time I have had a plethora of issues with the phone including total signal losses, battery and connectivity problems etc (some of which were partially addressed in the Legend forum) ..

With time, these issues have greatly aggravated and I am at the juncture where I no longer want to continue my contract for the remainder of the 6-7 months as I seriously need to switch from my existing phone which is hampering my day to day business activity.

Spoke to the vodafone rep at a local store who said I have another month to go until I am eligible for an upgrade, and this depite the fact that I have also owned a vodafone mobile broadband connection and have been regularly exceeding the 100min calling limit on my mobile contract (which has led me to somtimes pay bills as high as £80/month on more than one occasion).

I am deeply dissapointed at the at vodafone's growing lacklusture approach at retaining existing customers (almost taking us for granted) and am looking at alternative options for the first time in over 4 years.

Re: Early Upgrade to Samsung Galaxy S2

Hi, new to the forum but I would like the same help too.   I am eligible for early upgrade on 11 Nov.  Would like to upgrade to Samsung Galaxy S2.   The tariffs have gone up since I looked making it more expensive.     I lost my Galaxy S (uninsured) in July so have been using an old, rubbish (non smart) phone since then and not used any of my data allowance even though I am paying for it so really want to upgrade but it has to be affordable.  Any help would be great, thanks.

Re: Early Upgrade to Samsung Galaxy S2

I can understand your headbutting when it comes to your phone, but I know I shouldn't really recommend this here but have you tried rooting the phone to install other ROMS on the phone?  The reason being is that companies (not Vodafone this isn't their fault) neglect their products, I'm talking specifically HTC in your case.  Going to places like XDA will help track down your issue and resolving it which means quite possibly installing a custom ROM or kernel.  These custom Roms can fix, speed up and make a phone just work.  I know it sounds silly that you shouldn't expect to root a phone to fix it, but carriers and companies will avoid fixing such things if their are other phones they wish to sell.

I say this to all people. If your going to buy a phone, regardless if it's Apple, Nokia, HTC or whatever.  Do your research before buying it.  I've found that that my HTC HD2 which is native to Windows Mobile 6.5 can have Android and WP7 and I can switch between them at any given time. If I had a choice of the HTC HD2 or another phone back when I bought it, I'd still choose the HD2 as it's been a great phone and while it's had it's problem.  Looking up how to fix things and installing custom ROMS, and even operating systems can be the most satisifying thing you can do because you can get more out of a product if your willing to do the reading and be patient with the phone and yourself.

Hope this helps.

We’re incredibly busy at the moment, so apologies for the delay in us responding.

I’d love to see if we can get you all a great upgrade package to one of our phones.

I’ve sent an email over to you. If you can reply with the information I’ve requested and we’ll be in touch over the next few days. We’ll then be in a position to look at all the options.

We’re a small team and are very popular, so once you emailed us, don’t worry if it takes a few days for us to get back to you.

Re: Early Upgrade to Samsung Galaxy S2

Just to give some feed back to people on here. Both Ian and another gentlemen who responded to my early upgrade request and called me up to put my order through. I want to thank you both for helping me out and you are true to your word by getting back in touch. For those who are still waiting, you'll get through and with only a ~5 minute phone call you'll get your order sorted! Can't wait to get my SG2 tomorrow! :smileyvery-happy:

Re: Early Upgrade to Samsung Galaxy S2

I just received a call from the Web Relations Team. They are happy to offer me the Samsung Galaxy S2 handset free on the same price plan but without the Vodafone-Vodafone free call discount that I have on my current contract (for the full contractual period).

However, the Vodafone-Vodafone discount saves me a lot of call time / money as both my wife and brother are also on Vodafone. This was the reason I was so looking forward to remain on Vodafone. I cannot afford to pay any more than what I'm currently paying.

The only option remains is for all of us to move to the other service provider - all our contracts are expiring soon. So, hopefully we will get a nicer deal as new customers from them.

Re: Early Upgrade to Samsung Galaxy S2

I have a very similar problem to all the above. I wanted to upgrade to the galaxy sII but have been offered very expensive deals and then no plans are available. This is very frustrating as I have been using an old phone for a while now and am in desperate need of an upgrade. I hope someone can help asap!
