Galaxy S2 Crashed now have no IMEI

Hi

On Friday (14th Oct) my phone (Galaxy S2) froze after restarting it the phone didnt recognise the sim card. I went to a vodafone store where they gave me a new sim card but still my phone wont recognise the sim card (It works in my old phone). Having looked through the settings it now displays the baseband version and IMEI as unknown. Should I take the phone back to the vodafone store

Re: Galaxy S2 Crashed now have no IMEI

Hi Doodlepaul, have you tried a factory reset? If not then try that before taking the phone back. Also, if you can it's worth backing up your contacts etc to Google and all media files to your pc or external sd card, then remove the card before trying the reset.

Re: Galaxy S2 Crashed now have no IMEI

Thank you for your advice, fortunately I had just done a full back up a few days ago as Kies doesn't connect anymore. I have tried a factory reset a number of times but this had no effect. Still unknown IMEI and baseband.

Re: Galaxy S2 Crashed now have no IMEI

Hi Doodlepaul.

Please accept my apologies for the delayed response, we are a small team in great demand.

I am sorry to learn you have experienced difficulties with your device, although it was very fortunate that you had backed up your contacts and information beforehand.

Have you tried *#06# as this will display the IMEI number on your device screen, alternatively you can often see the IMEI number under the battery on the body of the device.

It would appear that if the handset is not working it may need to be sent off for repair, if this on a Pay Monthly Agreement you will be able to get this done under the manufacturers warranty, please take this to your local store and they will be able to advise you of your best options.

Let me know how you get on.

Many Thanks

Re: Galaxy S2 Crashed now have no IMEI

Hi DaveCD

Thank you for your response, I have taken my phone into a vodafone shop and it has been sent for repair. I had tried the code you mentioned which only brought up a screen saying IMEI, but there was no number. I also tried *#1234# this brought up information but stated the phone was unknown. I will update this post when I hear back about the repair, however I am unable to use www.vodafone.co.uk/repairs to track it. I have tried a number of computers but the page always display unable to connect message.

Re: Galaxy S2 Crashed now have no IMEI

The phone has been repaired, the fault was a damaged circuit board, which vodafone repair replaced. However in settings it displays my phone number as unknown ( I think its the new sim as it does not have my phone number stored on it)
