Re: How To: Roll Back to 2.3.3

@polarisn1

The Factory Reset option from within "Settings" will do the same thing. You get the option to Format the internal SDcard as well. If you choose not to format the internal SDcard then all of your "Media" will be safe. However some settings will be removed.

I personally choose the "Hard" Factory Reset as this returns the Phone to an "As New" condition with all Partitions Formatted correctly.

Either way at some point after Flashing the Firmware, you WILL have to back up the entire Phone and perform a FULL HARD RESET. This is the ONLY way to guarantee a trouble free System.

This is why so many people have problems after Updating via Kies, as it does not do a Full System Wipe. (Hard Reset)

These are my opinions and others may disagree! I have never had a BAD flash following these simple Rules.

1) Backup all the Media/Content from your Phone

2) Remove SIM card and any External Micro SDcard

3) Do a Hard Factory Reset (incl' SDcard)

4) Flash the Firmware

5) Do another Hard Factory Reset (incl' SDcard)

6) Replace Sim card and External Micro SDcard

7) Setup the Phone and restore your content

Re: How To: Roll Back to 2.3.3

Thanks so much for your help! Since my phone would not remain booted up long enough to even get into the settings, I had to shut the phone off, and turn it on holding down the up volume key and the home key. This allowed me to do the factory reset and wipe the cache. Once I did this, I booted it back up for ###### and giggles, and it works now! No restarting at all. I had app brain installed previously to save all the apps I had, and I went back and reinstalled them. I have also tested the bluetooth, and so far nothing bad happens. So Im going to leave it at 2.3.5, but if it screws up again Im going to revert back to 2.3.3.

Thank you for helping me out!!!

Cody

Re: How To: Roll Back to 2.3.3

Hi.
I wonder if you give me some assistance.
I think I have followed the above process to the letter. Unfortunately when rebooting my phone I get several error message at the start of the setup process (android robot). Messages include "the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped unexpectedly" also another message about update process failed. I cannot proceed past this point. The flashing process appeared to suceed flawlessly and i can still get the phone into down load mode when rebooting
. Any help would be appreciated

Re: How To: Roll Back to 2.3.3

I have been PM'd by generalemail.

I have advised using the ext4 pit file and tick repartition.
The problem seems to be that The phone is not writing the file structure properly.
This is what the pit file does, it maps where everything should fit.

Hope that helps?

Re: How To: Roll Back to 2.3.3

Problem solved.
Firstly many thanks to "thesoupdragon" for taking the time to reply several times to my PMs with good advice.
As described in the initaial procedure I needed to perform a hard reset after the flashing process. Unfortunately thought I couldnt do this because I couldnt get past the setup process to access at the dialler or menus for a hard reset. I didnt realise that you can perform a hard reset with the phone tutned off by holding the volume UP key, home and then the power key until it boots. You then get a menu to format the device. Thanks again to "TSD" for his help. Anyone know of a way to get copilot 8 to work with ICS?
