Re: Ice Cream Sandwich no longer plays .AVI files

AVI's playe perfectly fine, tried many different ones to test and all seem perfect on stock player.

here is a test file for you to download and see if it works, this has been tested on my stock player and works perfect:

Re: Ice Cream Sandwich no longer plays .AVI files

Ok.

Even this avi does not stream over AllShare.

It does play when locally stored on the phone but this would be no good for a large collection.

Vodafone or Samsung issue...who knows ?

Re: Ice Cream Sandwich no longer plays .AVI files

Right Allshare can be a pain it uses DLNA Now Even a stock avi has codecs eg XVID or Divx

Now how are you streaming these eg from a network storage or from a PC

You can put the file on your pc and use allshare to see it

Oh in Public Videos !!!!

Now here is a work around

a App called ES FileExploer it comes with its own media player

Press Lan and explore were the file is click and hold on the file and open as then video then pic the ES player and if the storage streasm it it will play

Hi Zombane

Thank you for your post.

Have you tried resetting the device and updating the software OTA, if you are still experiencing the difficulties please can you try updating using Kies.

To perform a hard reset

- Switch the handset on
- Whilst powered up, remove the SIM card and battery
- Put the battery back in and switch on
- Wait a couple of minutes, then remove the battery again
- Replace the SIM and battery and switch back on

Thank you for your updates regarding the AVI files and I am pleased you are able to use this feature.

Many Thanks

Re: Ice Cream Sandwich no longer plays .AVI files

Es file explorer seems like an alternative. Thanks for the tip.

I am trying to stream from a NAS box. Netgear Readynas Ultra 2.

Used to work perfectly but software update to ICS has broken it.

I have done the update via Kies with a usb cable as stated earlier in this thread.

Will it ever work again i wonder?

Re: Ice Cream Sandwich no longer plays .AVI files

Hi dtjames

It sounds to me that the problem is not with the AVI but with ‘Allshare’. Have you spoken to Samsung about this?

Thanks

Re: Ice Cream Sandwich no longer plays .AVI files

Streaming .AVI with AllShare does not work with ICS on Vodafone or O2 networks.

Had i known this I doubt i would have "upgraded".
