Every time i run Kies, i am asked if i would like to upgrade to version 2.3.0.12035_16, but having downloaded it several times, it never actually installs, instead it keeps repeating itself by continually downloading the files, have now given up on it. My handset is a proper sim free one.

best option would be to remove kies completely from your system.

also remove your samsung drivers from add/remove programs.

once you've done that install ccleaner http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner to clean your registry of any remaining  bits and bobs.

then re-install kies hopefully that should help.

Strange thing is the version of Kies i'm being offered is not available on the Samsung web site as a download, my current 2.2 version still being shown as the latest.

yeah you find that with kies. when you download the version from the website though it will update to the most recent when you've installed it.

sometimes they release updates that don't need a complete re-release so they keep the most recent, complete version available to download then you just update it with small parts.

my laptop is stuck in the update cycle, my pc updated 1st time.

not sure about the ccleaner as it can cause more harm than good!

Right i have had this

The update is a auto update and it has to be run as Administrator

If not it will keep trying

so if you have to log in as a user it will not work

so try right clicking on kies and running it as a administrator

I have had this with my sales reps laptops

it is a strange update but its needed and it sorts out all 64bit windows 7 problems as well

i am logged in as admin m8

laptops only got an admin account and UAC is off.

same settings as my main PC and same OS

What firewall have you got ?

Try shutting that down as this is a differant update type it might be getting blocked ?

My PC has only one admin and i have det it tio ask every thing

I have just uninstalled it and when it cam to the update it asked for permission.

Nave you got the latest .net 4 installed as the update use's this

reboot your pc after and try again

If not a full clean install may be needed Kies an laptop can be a bit tricky as laptops have higher security on windows 7

If you unistall use

ccleaner

and delete the kies folder

then try a clean install

But it does sound like a Firewall problem

Hi, running as admimistrator worked for me, incidentally the laptop i am running is a Dell XPS, 3GHz i7 cpu, 16GB ram, running W7 64B Pro, thanks again.

weird, mine finally updated

new to vodaphone, downloaded & uninstalled (WinXP Home) Kies about 10 times in last 2 days, every time it says "corrupt file" and will not work.

So dowloaded it onto laptop (Win 7 Home) and it installed, then it said it needs upgrading, so did that now it will not work, what gets me is the amount of complaints on Google about it yet Samsung sit on their thumbs, its really is crap in these days of technology that you can not connect a smartphone to a PC, how hard can it be when allegedly a man walked on the moon 50 years ago!!
