MHL to HDMI

Hi
I would really appreciate any help with the following. I have purchased a MHL to Hdmi adaptor to connect my S2 to my LG television. I am running ice cream sandwich and plugged everything in including the mini usb power supply but the only thing i get on the tv screen is the little bounce screensaver saying invalid input. I have tried re booting the phone but still nothing. the only thing I can think of is when you open the usb settings it does not give me any options just connect mass storage device.
can anyone please help as i am not technical and i am no stuck

Re: MHL to HDMI

Maybe a faulty cable? Have you searched around the internet for a solution?

Re: MHL to HDMI

I have had a look but i can find any solution. called in to local Vodafone store and they did not know. I still thinks its unusual not to have any usb options apart from mass storage

Re: MHL to HDMI

Thanks for the suggestion but can not find that in S2 menu. i have done a full factory reset as well now and still no luck. I still think it is to do with the phone usb utilities showing only the option mass storage. That's why tv saying invalid format. Does anyone else with an S2 have more options in usb utilities menu

Re: MHL to HDMI

just watched a YouTube video and it says you have to have a USB connection inserted too, have you done that?

Re: MHL to HDMI

yes a power supply. have had a look around and everything says that as soon as you connect the cable it should show up on TV so it seems you have a faulty cable?
