POOR BATTERY LIFE FOR GALAXY S2

Heres a dumb question. Can anyone tell me how I can discharge my battery fully and give it a full charge? Though I kept the charger plugged in, the phone tells me the battery is fully charged after 3-4 hours. Whats the point of keeping it charged when the phone is showing

OK. Going by what you guys have had with your S2, I am thinking surely I am doing something wrong with my device. The only trouble is  that I just listen to music for 1 hour on the commute to work, get facebook updates, no wifi, and some very short calls. By the time I head home, the battery is less than 25% and starts giving me the beep after 30 mins of music. I am past the point of playing with the phone. Its just lying on my desk and I very rarely use it. I have no power hungry apps on the phone. Just facebook for android and gmail. But I am barely getting 10 hours from the phone.

I am on KE7 and I have not rooted the device. I drained the battery to the point where it tells you to charge it and then I gave it a full charge. This is when I got the KE7 firmware. I have not played any games on it. Just dont know whats going on.:smileysad:

Re: POOR BATTERY LIFE FOR GALAXY S2

Hi wolverine

There are some devices that have a battery drain function, either in the menus or by an entered code, but I’m not aware of one of these for the Galaxy S2. I’d suggest just running a power hungry app, until your battery gives way to drain as much as possible. Maybe one of our users knows of an alternative to this and can enlighten us?

Some tips to improve battery:

1. Brightness – lower it if possible, I keep mine at about 20-30%, auto brightness sometimes makes it too bright.

2. Do not install run a lot of apps that do background and keep data connection open unless necessary.

3. Use IM clients that support Android C2DM (Cloud to device messaging). The way this works is, instead of the app keeping a separate data connection open, it uses the Google cloud connection that your phone already uses for Gmail/Market etc and then notifies the app when there’s a message it needs to retrieve.

4. Use WiFi whenever available instead of 3G data connection.

5. Install an app to help with power consumption.  Most can auto disable/enable WiFi/3G on a schedule and do a lot of smart things that may help save battery life.

Let me know if you’ve any further questions.

Regards
