People can't hear when i make a call...

I've done a bit of googling but not really found a solution...

Got my daughter a Galaxy S2 for xmas (i've had the phone since Mid November but it was unused till xmas day)

And its all fine with the exception of if she makes a voice call the person on the other end can't hear her unless she puts her loudspeaker on then you can hear her fine...

Any ideas checked for updates both OTA and with Kies and all seems upto date

It says android version 2.3.5...

Any help would be appreciated as obviously its pretty useless as it is...

Thanks

Re: People can't hear when i make a call...

Should have mentioned already tried a factory reset...

Made no difference :smileysad:

A few people have replied on XDA saying you have to disable the noise reduction mic while in a call then it works, if that hints at anything...

Re: People can't hear when i make a call...

Anyone from vodafone able to recommmend what i need to do now ?

Its not working, she can put it on loudspeaker or deactivate the noise reduction mic but this is a bodge to get around an issue that we shouldn't have on a phone thats been used less than a week.

Also whats the situation as i've had the phone since mid November although its only been used since 25th December...

If its faulty whats happens she'll be gutted if its got to go back to be repaired..

Thanks...

Re: People can't hear when i make a call...

Hi wakers

Thank you for your posts and a very warm welcome to the eForum from myself and the team. :smileyhappy:

As Northern-dj has mentioned the same mic is used for both so this is not the cause.

I appreciate that you have tried a factory reset, could you also ensure you are using the latest software.and that all of your contacts and information is backed up.

Once these steps have been tried then there may be a fault with the device, I appreciate that your daughter will not be pleased however it is better to get this repaired rather than keep a fault on the device.

Please take the device to your local store and one of our experts will be able to take a look and advise you of your best options or alternatively we can arrange a postal repair.

Let me know how you get on.

Many Thanks

Re: People can't hear when i make a call...

Jesus where to start with this...

Bought the phone Mid November as a Xmas present not used till December 25th... (you were made aware of this at the time)

Phoned customer service on 31st December told to phone back after the new year (fair enough)

Thought i would pop it into the Vodafone shop yesterday so they can have a look went into the vodafone shop guy there confirms there's a fault with the phone a physical fault not a software fault, needs to go back in for repair..

If I had waited and got it in December they would have been able to do a straight swap (not informed of this at all when i purchased it Mid november)

Not really that happy with this as the phone although i've had it from Mid November was only used from Dec 25th i ordered early to ensure i got her what she wanted for xmas..

Decided to leave it speak to my daughter see what she wants to do...

Spoke to vodafone over the phone this morning after about 40min of 3 different departments finally get to where you guys will change the phone for a new one (woo hoo)

Then go through to another dept to be told actually you can't as you don't have any and because i bought a white one i can't swap it for a black one, so the phone needs to go back to be repaired (no offer at all of a loan phone in the 2wk period that this can take mind)

So ok if thats my only option i'll get it repaired, through to another dept..

Person in this dept tells me it will be a chargable repair (you having a laugh right) another 15min on the phone really really losing my rag now and finally it is being repaired FOC...

Gotta say i'm pretty laid back you guys are ###### hard work and i'm not impressed with your customer service...

The facts are i've bought my daughter a £400 phone for xmas that i've had to argue to get it repaired FOC with less than 2wks use...

Seriously seriously considering not renewing 2 of the 3 contracts that are up this year, I'll no doubt get a text or a call asking how i was dealt with as you take customer satifaction seriously, this mornings episode has left a sour taste common sense alone would tell anyone a phone thats less then 3 months from purchase couldn't possibly be a chargable repair, gutted now i thought i was doing the sensible thing by ordering early...

Re: People can't hear when i make a call...

Without wishing to offend the people here supporting customers, Vodafone's support is abysmal. Really, really abysmal. I know of no other company that I deal with that treats customers with suck utter contempt. As soon as they have your signature, the caring about you ends.

You have the legal right for two years under EU law for a free repair/replacement for any non-damage faults. Keep at them, and you will get your replacement.

Again, I mean no offence to the people here, but seriously, your support sucks.

[ Edited ]

Yeah i agree i've been on here before and had good support from the web help when i had issue's with a HD2 that time it was vodafone being slow with sorting there rom update out...
This morning though was hard work, jesus its a new phone even if it had been used from Mid November and i can never really understand why you have to get annoyed to get stuff resolved, the girl that told me that it would have to be a charged repair i thought was genuinely having a joke, gone downhill a lot in my experience in customer service over the last 2yrs, the other thing that drives me crazy is how many people and departments do you have to talk to and go through to get anything resolved, frustrating is an understatement...
