SGS2 email prolbems

Hi Forum, Please help!

I have just updated to a SGS2 and i've set up my email accounts, but I'm not getting any emails, or when I do they stay on the phone for about 10 seconds then self delete.

I think I know what the problem is, and if it is I was mislead by Vodafone store!!!

I have numerious email addresses all through virginmedia, and I also have various email readers (ipad, laptop, desktop (both running Outlook) and now a SGS2). When i had a iPhone 3 everything worked fine, all emails went to every divice, and depending on each device setting it either deleted the email from server or not.

I run POP3 on all my accounts and I have a prefix on my mail accounts (recent:smileyhappy: so that it sends all  incomming emails to all devices, and then the device works seperatly, to delete, reply or whatever. I also have BCC to myself so I can pick up a response or do any actions whictchever divice I'm on.

The Samsung does not seem to like "recent" even though I have manually set up the accounts and included them as POP3 and added recent to the account settings.

The phone also does not update my emails (i have it set to 5 minutes to update), but I have to pysiclly go to my emails and manually refresh before any come through. When looking at my mailbox it state the last time it was updated, which can be hours ago, not every five minutes. I thought it had "push" email capability, but this seems to be for gmail only (not what I was told)!!!

If anyone got any tech advise I'm all ears (or eyes in this case).

Please do not tell me to go to Imap4, this is unusable due to the amount of mail folders and accounts i have with virgin.

Thanks

Tom

Re: SGS2 email prolbems

Hi Tom

I am with VirginMedia as well.

I use IMAP4 and all 7 of my Blueyonder Mail Boxes (seperate email addresses) are delivered without any problem. I have set them up as seperate emails on the phone.

I also use Gmail, Hotmail and Yahoo.

Gmail is instant delivery and the others I have set to "Poll" every hour.

Here are my settings for VirginMedia (Blueyonder):

Incoming;

User name   : xxxxxxxx@blueyonder.co.uk

Password     : xxxxxxxxx

IMAP server : imap4.blueyonder.co.uk

Port              : 993

Security        : SSL

Prefix            : Optional

Outgoing;

SMTP server    : smtp.blueyonder.co.uk

Port                  : 465

Security            : SSL

Require Sign in : None

I know you don't want to use IMAP, but it works well for me! At the moment my email is being pushed to 2 phones. My SGS and an iPhone4.

The image below is of my Desktop Webmail, you can see the imap folders which contain deleted email from my phone for example.

Hope this is helpful :smileyhappy:

Re: SGS2 email prolbems

Thanks for replying, not really what I wanted. Perhaps I will give it another try, but with iMap I get so many folders that it is unworkable. Maybe it's time to sort out my folders so I don't get them all on the phone. Tom
