Hi, i just received my galaxy s2 the other day. I am unable to connect to facebook or the internet if i am not connected to WIFI, does anyone know of a way this can be fixed? any help welcome thanks Matt

Can you check in settings > Wireless and networks > Mobile networks and see if the use packet data is ticked if not tick it.

then go down to network operators and let the phone search and it will find Vodafone select it and the phone will log back on to the Vodafone network and you should get a 3G or a G next to your signal meter.

thanks for that, had a look and the box is ticked, still no letter or access to internet? may have to phone vodafone and see what they say?

Try un ticking it  and then tick it again that can work

what happens  in the same menu section ifb you change from auto to gsm only does the g come back 

I would try a factory reset 

How old is the simm card as well i no some older ones to be a nightmare if they were never used for internet 

Also check to see if you have the internet turned on next door to me has no internet on her contract with her company and that does not show. you need to try another simm in the phone

nothing comes up when i change it. the sim isn't too old, was in my i phone 4, only couple of months old. Got the Samasung on Saturday as was working fine at first, i can make calls and receive texts just internet and facebook still

I would do a factory reset this is done in privacy 

and start again 

Normally doing the above should bring things back if it worked at first somthing has changed to effect this 

When you do a wipe the 3G should come on after you pick the network

Re rgistering your network should bring this back on unless you have a data switch that has turned this off with wifi off it should come back on may take a min or two

Not a problem it would of been nice to find out what was causing the problem but we may never no

I got Samsung Galaxy s2 as a gift from my Bro in law and sister.

When i open and added my sim on it, i 'm so disoppointed to see that there is network picking from the phone.

Did lot of trouble shooting like clearing cache, restting to factory default. But, no luck so far.

Here in US we are having 4g conenction much better than 3g.

But i'm able to see only a ver vry limited access to internet which shouldn't be.

And i can see E at the network place rater than 3g or 4g.

Is there any one really helps me to fix this issue.

Otherwise i have tos end back the gift to family which i really don't like.

Becz they had sent this one w/ lots of love and that too i got this on Valentine.

Please assist me friends

Try wiping the contacts on the sim with a clean cloth.  That worked for me.  I think the conttacs in the phone may need a solid connection.

Yes, i'm using the UK version phone in USA.

This phone is not locked to any network

Right Now i no what the fault is

The Phone will not work in the USA as it is

It may work on GSM depending on your contract I no At&T ar a bit funny over this

How ever you need to get your head around flashing Roms

I would surgets XDA developers as Flashing a USA Modem Kernal might get this to work

I no they managed the Galaxy S to do this

But do a search for XDA on Google

Also a Samsung Service centre in the USA might be able to convert this for you, But they might charge to do this

Yep that can help for people in the UK and re logging back in to Vodafone can help as well

i can understand your concerns. But, as a techie you might be aware of this issue. If you have any suggestion you can share it to anyone right.
Someday you might gonna encounter the same as i'm in now.

No issues, i got the answer. I'm using USA T-mobile which ran on different bandwidth and will not support this Samsung S2 UK version.


This is that simple to respond if you know the answer.
i'm sharing my knowledge to those who are facing this kind of issues
