Re: any news on when the Galaxy S II is bring released??

Don't know why Vodafone are taking so long, it's the same with Orange, they told me the SGS2 would be available with them from 1st June because they had to throw a load of branded software on the phone that nobody wants, then it would have to go through testing.

While Vf told me 5th May, so I signed up with them.  Still haven't had any word as to when I'm likely to be getting it, I guess they're going through the same procedure as Orange, pathetic really considering Phones4u having been shipping unbranded SGS2's on most networks since the 27th April.

I have seen posts on here where Vf have told people 16th May, but how likely that is I don't know.

You can pre-order for delivery starting on 16th May according to Customer Services. There's a huge thread discussing the same here.

Hi netty68

Brilliant news that you are looking to upgrade.

So that we can go through the offers for the Galaxy S 2 with you, I have just emailed you, if you can reply back to that with the relevant information, we can then go through this together :smileyvery-happy:

Thanks

Samsung Galaxy S2 availability

Why is it that the S2 is now avaliable from other suppliers however Vodafone can't even indicate a possible date for delivery?  I am a business customer who has just phoned my retention team who had no information whatsoever.

Bizarrely there is thread on this forum where someone claims to have one and is asking about data settings, my bussiness team seem to deny that this is poosible... or perhaps its me that's deluded.

The other worry is that Vodafone are busy sabotaging the user interface, with some naieve, ill designed custom junk as we have had to suffer before...

I would much appreciate if someone can shine some light on the above... or is better to simply sign with a supplier who cares and wants to do business?

Re: Samsung Galaxy S2 availability

Word on the street is 15th -16th May, but I would personally take this with a pinch of salt as the date has changed so many times now.

There is already a huge thread that has been started on this topic, you can get to it here.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S2 availability

Thank you for for the helpful comment.  I felt there must be a thread. However when I searched I missed the S2 connection on the link you sent.

Its all very depressing and familiar a couple years back I had a HTC Windows mobile phone where the firmware overide had eliminated the programmable hardware function on a strategically placed button, so it gave 2 answer phone buttons next to one another.  To think that a company wants to waste money, delay launches, cashflow and upset customers in this way is unbelievable.

I can only hope that reviewers pick-up these issues.

[ Edited ]

May I point you to this massive thread discussing the same, it's a bit confusing if the topic should on the Galaxy S forum or other Samsung devices.

Merging with existing thread

Re: Samsung Galaxy S2 availability

ys,

As has been mentioned previously, both here and elsewhere, we don't have a confirmed date for release yet. I cannot speculate on why/how other providers may have the handset available either, as I do not have any background information.

As soon as we do have a date we will be on here to let you know.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S2 availability

I think maybe it would be beneficial to both Vodafone and to their customers if they were to stop printing VF logos on phones. This would mean that no time (or money) has to be wasted printing them, so they can be selling just as soon as their competitors, whilst the customers get a prettier phone, sooner :smileyhappy:.

I understand that it is valuable marketing, but the money should be going towards improving reception and customer service- you can't underestimate how powerful word of mouth is.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S2 availability

There's a message on the community board, something about 'unanticipated' software issues causing a delay. It can only mean that VF are putting their own software on the S2, hence the delay. Did O2 do this? Not that I know of.

I've got an S2 on order, but I'm beginning to wonder if it is worth the wait if VF are going to mess about with the phone; maybe a switch to O2 would be better.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S2 availability

I read somewhere that the Samsung Galaxy SII software was being tested again today, so we'll have to wait & see if the issues have been sorted out

Re: Samsung Galaxy S2 availability

No its not Samsung it will be Vodafone Bloating up the phone again OH JOY!!!!! and it will no dout be a app that does not work oh and that was the comments from my local Samsung service centre they no nothing on a software problem he then went in the back and pulled out a Galaxy sII OOOOOOOOOOOO and there was no problems Nice bit of kit i must add.

So if you ring samsung up ask them and they will say there is nothing wroung with it, Speak to your network Vodaone could not sort this last time with the SGS sothe first batch were unbranded then they brout out the Bloated phones Yack Naff start up screen and apps that did not work sooooooo They got rid of it all and all was well again.

But the HTC Desire HD got bloated again and no one wanted it

So be aware of Bloatware !!!!!!!
