sonuneamol wrote:Hi VT/Ado/Soup/Jim,
After flashing JS7 has your CSC changed? If yes then what it is now?
I downloaded both JS7 and JS3. I have following queries
Currently I'm on JPY (XEU). Flashed with registry hack back in december.
For JS7
----------
I got three files (PDA/PHONE/CSC). Which PIT file should I use?
What would be my CSC after flashing this ROM?
For JS3
---------
I got only one file. Would it be alright flashing with one file over JPY?
Will my CSC changed to VOD again?
What version of Odin should I use??
Ado I couldn't find your flash guide? Plz help me with it.
Why are you wanting to flash to JS7 or JS3 if you go on the thread 2.2.1 were sit it there sevarll guides on there if you are registered on samfirmware there is a guide on there JPY is still current firmware the others have been made for networks if your not happy with your rom then maybe a custom one. but with the others you will not see any change.
Ado28 guides are on his profile and there tagged he is working on some videos as well, every time you flash a rom the csc will change it Normally goes to KOR but changing it back is easy, Samfirmware tells you every thing you need to no and what pit file you need for what firmware if you do some searches on here you will find the threads and info you need

Thanks Jim..... I'm preity much happy with JPY actually but thought of flashing just bcoz of battery drain problem.
I'm not that keen on custom ROM actually but will definatly give a go sometime later.
I hope for XEU hopefully GB will be the next update..... ![]()

Ok, but flashing a rom isnt the total solution for battery drain, but flashing a kernel can help with that problem, also with overall performance. Have a look at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=822756 , this is the speedmod kernel, used by a lot of people. It is easy to put onto the JPY, you can also root your phone with it.

lol @ Ndj, yes your correct I did reinstall the Vodafone ROM JP7 then upgraded to their latest rom via Kies. I only done this to make a quick video on how to update your Vodafone via Samsung Kies. Would you actually believe the only problem I did have was trying to get the VOD code back on my phone but I eventually managed it after a factory reset (hard reset)
I'm now back on Darky's rom again. This has been one hell of a week for flashing. I estimate I have flashed in excess of 30 times lol My phone will be glad now that I'm back to work on Monday after a fortnights holiday lol.

The hard reset code is *2767*3855# It wasn't anything to do with Darkys rom re the VOD code but seemed only to vanish after moving on to other ROMS from JM8 and wasn't present after putting the official VF firmware back on however the hard reset restored it.

When i put my mates phone back to stock he was a XEU i changed his code first i flashed back to JPO 2.2 as that was what i was putting on i checked and VOD was there i then flashed the Vodafone firmware on then i did what you did on your video and plugged in to kies and it offered me the update so i did and i even tried the firmware recovery which is a roll back. This phone has now gone back his company has ditched Vodafone for Orange OH DEAR But they have only gon for simm only packages and then bought them all Galaxy Tabs Lucky him he has Google maps in 7inch which is very nice his own phone is a Nexus S that is on 2.3.3
and he rubs that in as well
When you mentioned about the code i was worried but as it offered the update it must be right

This is to answer the question that was asked on the closed post .
The firmware is available on samfirmware Press Here to take you to the page then scroll down to branded section and the one you want is I9000BUJS3 .
This is only for people that have the previous VOD 2.2 if you haven't then you need to flash that first that is I9000BUJP7 now if you going back you need to make sure your csc is set to Vodafone do this before you put 2.2 on. If you don't see VOD after you flash do a hard reset and that will sort it.
There is another 2.2.1 on there this is the orange update which with some of there phones you can only use odin
If you have i9000BUJP7 Vodafone stock 2.2 froyo You should automatically get offered the 2.2.1 via kies if not make sure you have the latest kies on your pc make sure it is exempt from firewall. But if kies is still not offering you the update then odin will be the way to go, As this is Vodafone firmware using odin will not affect your warranty. I did this fix and he was on XEU and the phone was going back but i only put 2.2 on and kies did offer 2.2.1 and it did the update and it also let me do a firmware recovery as well which took it back to 2.2 then when you plug it back in it offers you 2.2.1 again.
So to any user if you update with kies now and the firmware fails you can do a recovery as long as you use the pc you flashed on if you try on a different pc it will ask for a code.
As for odin method there is alot on the Galaxy s section on using odin there several helpful videos that ado28 has done this one Press Here shows going back froma custom rom but it is the same method of using odin any problems were all her to help

I have updated my phone to VOD 2.2.1 yesterday, and now I have a problem with the battery life.
In 2.2, I used to stick to 2G (GSM only) mode most of the time and switched the 3G only when I needed high data transfer (internet etc.). That way, my phone's battery lasted at least a couple of days.
I can't do that in 2.2.1 as there is no "GSM only" option in Nework mode; the only available options are "GSM/WCDMA (auto mode)" and "WCDMA only". This morning, after I disconnected the charger unit I have left the phone in the auto mode and by the lunch time the battery level dropped to 45%.
I'd be grateful for any advise how I could get the 2G only mode in 2.2.1.
Thanks

Hi savod,
It will dake a few days for your battery to calibrate to the new rom you have installed and battery life on 2.2.1 is in general pretty good. With regards to your 3G mode, if you press the power button it will give you some options, select "data network mode" and this will disable your 3G. To re enable it just press it again and touch data network mode.
Hope this helps!

You dont have a GSM only on Network Mode under Mobile Network Settings? I have, though I am not on the VOD firmware. Could anyone else on VOD 2.2.1 confirm this?

Your correct they have taken the GSM mode off WHAT HAVE YOU DONE VODAFONE !!!!
so David why have Vodafone taken gsm mode only off ???????????
with all the 3G problems your having and your tecnical department no nothing about this secound line and third line tecnical, they have said it is part of there instrutions if any one has a loss of 3g is to tempory put there phone into gsm only.
when some 3G faults happen you get a full signal but you can not make a call not even to you
This is URGENT !!!
also if your between transmiters 3g has a poor signal it has to dissapear before gsm kicks in.
You have said one of the improvements was battery life well gsm only does improve battery life
Samsung new nothing about this well they do now he said what are they doing taking that off, he pointed out that when you go on holiday to a differnt country yes the phone will find the gsm signal but it will be constantly be trying to find a WCDMA signal this is the same in areas with no 3g this will put drain on the battery. He could understand taking WCDMA only off but not gsm only some one in the back ground asked what have they done he told them they went WHAT!!!
Answers Please Vodafone ??????????
You have made a boo boo
The only sujestion i can say is in kies do a firmware recovery it should roll it back to 2.2

Cheers Tom!!!!!!!
I have had a phone call as well from the directors at Vodafone ( I'm Impressed) let me reasure every Vodafone user that they are on with it, and doing what they need to do to sort this.
If you are in a gsm only area you can roll back the firmware on kies back to 2.2 for now and you may need to do this any how as the fix will involve the firmware being sorted.
If your in a 3g area then you will be fine i'm sure this is a simple misstake and they will sort it
Well done savod for spotting this have a Kudos on me, if you need any help with rolling it back let us no
Vodafone as tom said do no about the problem and have said that yes you should be able to switch to gsm only, I have told them the temp fix eg the roll back.
thank god for kies lol never thought i would say that
so watch this space
Tom is on the job and will let use no
